2. Efecto de la adición de bentonita sobre las propiedades ópticas de diferentes materiales compuestos poliméricos
ABSTRACT In this work, composite materials were obtained by the incorporation of bentonite to biodegradable and synthetic polymeric matrices. Commercial (BE) and natural (BM) bentonite samples were employed, as well as three different polymeric matrices: thermoplastic corn starch (TPS), high density polyethylene (HDPE) and a poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styren

3. Crashworthiness and Impact Energy Absorption Study Considering the CF/PA Commingled Composite Processing Optimization
The processing of the thermoplastic composites can cause matrix thermo-oxidative degradation. Understanding the level of thermo-oxidative degradation, as well as the thresholds of temperature and processing time, allows the manufacture of high performance composites with higher crashworthiness. This study evaluated the matrix thermo-oxidative degradation by

5. Manufacturing and Characterization of Jute/PP Thermoplastic Commingled Composite
The commingled technology is a promising technique for the manufacture of composites reinforced with natural fibers. This study presents the development, processing and basic characterization of a long fiber Jute/Polypropylene (Jute/PP) commingled composite. The Jute/PP fabric was produced in a handloom and the composite was consolidated by compression moldi

7. Tensile properties of novel carbon/glass hybrid thermoplastic composite rods under static and fatigue loading
ABSTRACT Novel carbon/glass hybrid thermoplastic composite rods have been developed consisting of a PAN-based carbon fiber, an E-glass fiber, and a thermoplastic matrix. Three types of hybrid rods with different carbon/glass ratios were then fabricated. The surface and cross-sectional morphologies of the hybrid rods were observed using a digital microscope.

8. Utilization of banana stalk fiber as reinforcement in low density polyethylene composite
ABSTRACT Natural fibers could serve as viable and abundant alternatives to the expensive and non - renewable synthetic fibers as reinforcement in thermoplastic composites. The potentiality of banana stalk fiber at reinforcing a low density polyethylene matrix was examined in this study. Fibers were extracted from the stalk of banana plant and characterized f

9. Curaua fiber reinforced high-density polyethylene composites: effect of impact modifier and fiber loading
Abstract Short fibers are used in thermoplastic composites to increase their tensile and flexural resistance; however, it often decreases impact resistance. Composites with short vegetal fibers are not an exception to this behavior. The purpose of this work is to produce a vegetal fiber reinforced composite with improved tensile and impact resistance in rela

10. Improved Thermal Stability and Wettability Behavior of Thermoplastic Polyurethane / Barium Metaborate Composites
In this paper, it was targeted to the enhance thermal stability and wettability behavior of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) by adding barium metaborate. TPU-Barium metaborate composites were prepared by adding various proportions of barium metaborate to TPU. The chemical structures of the composites were characterised by fourier transform infrared spectrosc

12. TPS Nanocomposite reinforced with MFC by melting process
Bionanocomposites of thermoplastic starch (TPS) reinforced with microfibrilated cellulose (MFC) were prepared by melt processing. MFC was prepared from eucalyptus wood pulp by a process combining cryogenic milling in high shear mixers, chemical treatment with sodium hydroxide and ultrasound treatment. The never dried MFC was then dispersed in native starch a
