INTRODUCTION: Acinetobacter spp. have emerged as notorious pathogens involved in healthcareassociated infections. Carbapenems are important antimicrobial agents for treating infections due to multidrug resistant Acinetobacter spp. Different mechanisms may confer resistance to these drugs in the genus, particularly production of class D carbapenemases.
