Literature has been showing a tendency of reducing the limits of Whipple's resection. The main technical advance was the pylorus preserving resection, technique proposed by Traverso and Longmire in 1978. The pancreticoduodenectomy for chronic pancreatitis, is probably the best opportunity to apply this type of procedure.
