1. Envelhecer sem espelhos: olhando o envelhecimento de pessoas com deficiência visual / Ageing without mirrors: looking at the ageing of persons with visual disabilities
Ageing and visual impairment are complex subjects that are interlinked in the present study in order to get a more in-depth understanding of this issue. From the understanding of this phenomenon, changes can be caused in the attitudes of society regarding ageing with visual impairment. Understanding how such a specific ageing process comes about is essential

2. Imagens da morte: um estudo do gênero policial-fantástico em Poe, Wilde e Christie
The mirror has always been related to different symbols, usually connected to self-knowledge and truth. This is due to the fact that this object shows whoever looks oneself in it an image as close to reality as it is possible. On the other hand, the mirror is also associated to mysticism and to the supernatural for it can magically duplicate one who looks in

3. Uso do programa "Cells Analyser" no estudo comparativo entre imagens do endotélio de córnea obtidas por microscopia especular
Purpose: To describe differences among number of cells, evaluated endothelial area and relative error comparing endothelial samples from one endothelial image with endothelial samples obtained from guidance of a specific software, with number of cells and images as many as necessary. Methods: A transversal study was performed, comparing the endothelial sampl

4. Specular highlights detection and reduction with multi-flash photography
We present a novel method to reduce the effect of specularities in digital images. Our approach relies on a simple modification of the capture setup: a multi-flash camera is used to take multiple pictures of the scene, each one with a differently positioned light source. We then formulate the problem of specular highlights reduction as solving a Poisson equa

5. Calculo da iluminação em sintese de imagens atraves de ray-tracing estocastico
This work studies the subject of illumination in realistic image generation with the goal of approaching the problem from the Physical laws envolved in the process, aimming to develop and implement techniques for calculating the illumination in computer generated images. The stochastic ray tracing method, also called distributed ray tracing, simulates the tr

6. Non-invasive assessment of the donor corneal endothelium using ocular redox fluorometry.
AIMS: To investigate the usefulness of ocular redox fluorometry for evaluating donor corneal endothelial viability. METHODS: Corneas from 42 recipients of penetrating keratoplasty and four donor corneas were examined by ocular redox fluorometry. Autofluorescence from reduced pyridine nucleotides (PN) and oxidised flavoproteins (Fp) of the human corneal endot

7. Automated morphometry of corneal endothelial cell: use of video camera and video tape recorder.
We developed an apparatus for automated morphometry of the corneal endothelium, which was photographed through a specular microscope connected to a video camera, and the images were stored on a video tape. The clearest stationary image was input into an image analyser to determine automatically the cell boundaries. Although human interaction is generally nec

8. Morphology of graft endothelium and donor age.
The corneal endothelium of 42 clear corneal transplants was studied with a specular microscope. The endothelial cell morphology was analysed by using a computerised image analysis system. A quantitative index was developed to study the degree of variation in cell size. By applying this objective index we observed that pleomorphism is independent of age, and
