1. Forced-air warming and continuous core temperature monitoring with zero-heat-flux thermometry during cesarean section: a retrospective observational cohort study
Abstract Background: Over 30% of parturients undergoing spinal anesthesia for cesarean section become intraoperatively hypothermic. This study assessed the magnitude of hypothermic insult in parturients and newborns using continuous, high-resolution thermometry and evaluated the efficiency of intraoperative forced-air warming for prevention of hypothermia.

2. Evaluation of ex vivo melanogenic response to UVB, UVA, and visible light in facial melasma and unaffected adjacent skin,
Abstract Background: The independent role of solar radiation in the differential melanogenesis between melasma and adjacent skin is unknown. Objectives: To assess the melanogenic responses of skin with facial melasma and of the adjacent skin to UVB, UVA, and visible light, in an ex vivo model. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study involving 22 pati

3. Nanostructured Lipid Carriers Loaded with 17-α-Estradiol Accumulate into Hair Follicles
To improve 17-α-estradiol targeting in alopecia treatment, a formulation of nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) prepared by the sonication method was developed. The physicochemical characterization showed an average diameter of 96 ± 15 nm and the average zeta potential of -17 ± 6 mV. In addition, the encapsulation efficiency (EE) of 17-α-estradiol, assess

4. Standardization of organoid culture for evaluation of melanogenesis induced by UVB, UVA and visible light,
Abstract Background: Organoid cultures are primary cultures that maintain architectural characteristics and the relationships between cells, as well as the extracellular matrix. They are alternatives for pathophysiological or therapeutic investigation rather than animal and in vitro tests. Objective: Development of a cutaneous organoid culture model, aimin

5. Experimental models of scald burns. A scope review
Abstract Purpose: To conduct a scope review of the experimental model described by Walker and Mason, by identifying and analyzing the details of the method. Methods: The authors searched Pubmed-Medline, Cochrane-Bireme and PEDro databases for articles published between January 2016 and December 2018, using the following search queries: burns, burn injuries

7. Nanoemulsion containing caffeine for cellulite treatment: characterization and in vitro evaluation
The Ginoide Hydrolipodystrophy (GHLD), commonly known as cellulite, occurs in 80-90% of the female population after the puberty period and comes from a metabolic modification in the cutaneous adipose tissue. Caffeine has been used in topical formulations due to its lipolytic action. We studied a nanoemulsion (F3) containing caffeine with two surfactants (ole

8. Photoprotective activity and increase of SPF in sunscreen formulation using lyophilized red propolis extracts from Alagoas
ABSTRACT The excessive sun exposure, coupled with lack of sun protection represents one of the biggest risks to the occurrence of skin cancer and photoaging. Recent strategies for photoprotection have included the incorporation of natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds, into sunscreens, and the oral administration of natural antioxidant extracts

11. Livedo reticularis by hypothermia during anesthesia for dental treatment in Down's syndrome patient
O vasoespasmo arterial cutâneo promove a isquemia e a dilatação venosa d

12. Stability and in vivo efficiency of natural cosmetic emulsion systems with the addition of vegetable oils
The aim of the paper is to test stability and biophysical properties of hydrophilic and lipophilic emulsions with selected vegetable seed oils: Limnanthes alba, Prunus amygdalus dulcis, Cannabis sativa, Rosa rubiginosa and Hellianthus annuus. Biophysical properties of emulsions are investigated in vivo using non-invasive instrumental methods (corneometry, te
