5. Characterization and Evaluation of Ceramic Properties with Spherical and Prismatic Samples of Clay Used in Red Ceramics
The Brazilian red ceramic industry monthly consumes about 10.3 million tons of clay, its main raw material. In most potteries, characterization of the clay is made empirically, which can result in roof tiles and blocks not according to standards. In this sense, this paper aims to characterize clays used in the manufacturing of red ceramic products in a facto

This paper describes a sample preparation method for domestic ceramics, based on the acid decomposition assisted by ultrasound for further determination of Cu, Fe, Mg and Zn by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry technique. The main optimized conditions were: particle size (25 µm); sample mass (25 mg) and the acid volume (0.5 mL of HNO3 and 0.5 mL of HF).

7. Production of porous ceramic materialusing different sources of alumina and calcia
ABSTRACTNumerous papers and publications report the use of microporous calcium hexaluminate (CaO.6Al2O3; CA6) as a key raw material for high temperature insulating materials. This material has unique properties with respect to chemical purity and mineral composition. Another important property of CA6 is its structure, which consists of platelet-shaped crysta

8. Bioactivity of leucite containing glass - ceramics using natural raw materials
Glass compositions were carefully prepared, using natural quartz and potassium feldspar as a part of the starting raw materials. The solids were prepared so as to have theoretical stoichiometric leucite and 45S5 Bioglass in different L/Bg weight ratios between 0.43 - 1.00. Novel bioactive glass - ceramics, containing leucite, sodium calcium silicate and sili

9. Desenvolvimento e caracterização de microesferas de fosfato de cálcio bifásico / Development and characterization of biphasic calcium phosphate microspheres
The biphasic calcium phosphate is greatly applied in the replacement of osseous tissues and as dermal fillers due to its chemical similarity with the mineral part of bone and teeth. Due to this similarity, the calcium phosphates present, among other important properties, high biocompatibility, bioactivity and/or osteoconduction. They do not induce inflammato

10. Parâmetros de monitoramento na produção industrial de componentes em zircônia parcialmente estabilizada com óxido de magnésio / Monitoring parameters for the industrial production of pieces made of magnesia-partially-stabilized zirconia
Zirconia has been widely applied on production of structural components, mainly due to its great mechanical properties. However, these properties are associated to the zirconia tetragonal and cubic phases, which are stable only on high temperatures on pure material, being necessary doping the material with some oxides to keep these phases at ambient temperat
