1. Modular modeling approach for FDM printed structures and piezo disks for metamaterial design
Abstract Research in metamaterials has recently gained interest in the field of noise and vibration control. The ability of creating band gap zones with minimum added mass is the main feature behind its success. In addition, the use of 3D printed parts, particularly the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), offers a practical solution for manufacturing parts with

2. Piezoelectricity from Elastic and Dielectric Measurements on Unpoled Ferroelectrics
A method is described to assess the piezoelectric response of ferroelectric materials from the temperature dependence of the elastic moduli and dielectric constant of unpoled samples. The limits and advantages over the traditional methods on poled samples are discussed. A quantitative check is made by comparing the piezoelectric softening measured below the

3. Shear wave propagation in piezoelectric-piezoelectric composite layered structure
The propagation behavior of shear wave in piezoelectric composite structure is investigated by two layer model presented in this approach. The composite structure comprises of piezoelectric layers of two different materials bonded alternatively. Dispersion equations are derived for propagation along the direction normal to the layering and in direction of la

4. A complete set of equations for piezo-magnetoelastic analysis of a functionally graded thick shell of revolution
Tensor analysis and an orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system have been used to derive a complete set of equations for piezo-magneto-elastic analysis of a functionally graded (FG) thick shell of revolution with variable thickness and curvature. The mentioned structure can be subjected to mechanical, electrical and magnetic fields. It was assumed that all m

5. A bending element for isotropic, multilayered and piezoelectric plates
In this paper, a new 12-node triangular element is developed for the analysis of composite plates. Moreover, the stress-strain relations of laminated bending plates, along with the characteristics of composite and piezoelectric materials have also been investigated. Following this, a finite element formulation for smart composite bending plates is proposed.

6. Preparação e Caracterização de Pós e Filmes De PbTiO3 obtidos pelo Método Pechini / Preparation and Characterization of Powders and Films From PbTiO3 obtained by Pechini method
Non-crystalline materials, commonly referred to as amorphous materials have attracted great interest in engineering and technology. This is due mainly to its photoluminescent properties at room temperature around 25 C. The aim of this study was the Pechini method in order to obtain ceramic powders and amorphous films of amorphous lead titanate. The lead tita

7. Effective properties evaluation for smart composite materials
The purpose of this article is to present a method which consists in the development of unit cell numerical models for smart composite materials with piezoelectric fibers made of PZT embedded in a non-piezoelectric matrix (epoxy resin). This method evaluates a globally homogeneous medium equivalent to the original composite, using a representative volume ele

8. Effect of parametric uncertainties on the performance of a piezoelectric energy harvesting device
The use of piezoelectric materials for the development of electromechanical devices for the harvesting or scavenging of ambient vibrations has been extensively studied over the last decade. The energy conversion from mechanical (vibratory) to electrical energy is provided by the electromechanical coupling between mechanical strains/stresses and electric char

9. Vibration energy harvesting using piezoelectric transducer and non-controlled rectifiers circuits
Vibration energy harvesting with piezoelectric materials is of practical interest because of the demand for wireless sensing devices and low-power portable electronics without external power supply. For practical use of vibration energy harvester with piezoelectric materials, it is necessary to process the alternating current (AC) by using different rectifie

10. Domínios ferroelétricos em cerâmicas e materiais nanoestruturados: investigação por microscopia de piezoresposta
In this work, ferroelectric domain structure was investigated by Piezoresponse Force Microscopy (PFM). To this, an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) has been modified to use it as PFM at room temperature and at high temperatures. Ferroelectric ceramics were used in the as bulk ceramic samples of Pb(Zr0,40Ti0,60)O3 (PZT 40/60) and (Pb0,79La0,21)TiO3 (PLT 21) prod
