13. (1R,2S,6R)-Papayanol, Aggregation Pheromone of the Guava Weevil, Conotrachelus psidii
Comparative GC/MS analysis of airborne volatiles produced by males and females of the guava weevil Conotrachelus psidii (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Molytinae) showed the presence of a malespecific electroantennographically active compound identified as (1R,2S,6R)-2-hydroxymethyl-2,6- dimethyl-3-oxabicyclo[4.2.0]octane (papayanol). Release of this compound wa

15. Studies towards the identification of the sex pheromone of Thyrinteina arnobia

16. Oviposition behaviour of Phlebotomus argentipes - A laboratory-based study
The breeding habitat of sandflies is a little studied and poorly understood phenomenon. More importantly, oviposition behaviour is a largely neglected aspect of sandfly biology and this knowledge gap further undermines our understanding of the biology of sandflies. Pheromones released by the eggs play an important role in identifying good sites for ovipositi

17. The relevance of age and nutritional status on the mating competitiveness of medfly males (Diptera: Teprhitidae)
Results of previous investigations trying to ascertain which physiological factors are more important to the mating success of medfly males are controversial. In part, this controversy owes to the fact that each factor was evaluated by an independent study using different experimental designs and populations. In the present study we compare the roles of age

18. Use of bee-attractants in increasing crop productivity in Niger (Guizotia abyssinica. L)
The use of bee attractants, Bee-Q and Fruit BoostTM in the pollination of niger was evaluated. Bee visitations to niger flowers were observed for two weeks and an estimation of seed yield was determined. Different concentrations of Bee-Q and Fruit boostTM were evaluated to understand honeybee visitation patterns on the target crop and pollination efficiency.

19. Molecular analysis of an odorant-binding protein gene in two sympatric species of Lutzomyia longipalpis s.l.
Lutzomyia longipalpis s.l. is the main vector of American visceral leishmaniasis (AVL) and occurs as a species complex. DNA samples from two Brazilian sympatric species that differ in pheromone and courtship song production were used to analyse molecular polymorphisms in an odorant-binding protein ( obp29 ) gene. OBPs are proteins related to olfaction and a

20. Genetic basis of triatomine behavior: lessons from available insect genomes
Triatomines have been important model organisms for behavioural research. Diverse reports about triatomine host search, pheromone communication in the sexual, shelter and alarm contexts, daily cycles of activity, refuge choice and behavioural plasticity have been published in the last two decades. In recent times, a variety of molecular genetics techniques h

The great interest to develop microcantilevers sensors is due to several desirable properties, in particular the ability to adjust the size and structure, thus increasing the perspectives for the construction of new sensor systems. In this work, we developed functionalized microcantilever sensors with conducting polymers to detect relative humidity, volatile

22. Ecologia química de Metamasius hemipterus, Rhynchophorus palmarum e Homalinotus coriaceus, e primeiro registro de Aleurodicus pseudugesii em coqueiro no Brasil / Chemical Ecology Metamasius hemipterus, Rhynchophorus palmarum and Homalinotus coriaceus, and first recorded in Aleurodicus pseudugesii coconut in Brazil

23. The host marking pheromone application on the management of fruit flies - a review
The aim of this work was to review the role of the host marking pheromone (HMP) and its application in integrated management programs for the fruit flies. Initially the oviposition behavior of tephritids has been analyzed with emphasis on Ceratitis capitata. The deposition of HMP, which consists in the last stage of the oviposition behavior has been characte

24. Synthesis and field evaluation of synthetic blends of the sex pheromone of Crocidosema aporema (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in soybean
