1. Isolation, Identification and Molecular Characterization of Highly Pathogenic Newcastle Disease Virus From Field Outbreaks
ABSTRACT Newcastle disease (ND) is a major infectious disease of the poultry caused by a virulent strain of Avian Paramyxovirus - 1, that is a single strand non-segmented negative sense RNA virus. ND virus is major threat to the poultry industry in many countries of the world. The study was aimed to isolate and identify Newcastle disease virus (NDV) by using

2. Vigilância epidemiológica do vírus da doença de Newcastle em aves domésticas e selvagens pelo método de Real Time PCR. / Surveilance of Newcastle disease virus in domestics and wild birds by Real Time PCR.
Brazilian chicken meat exports ended 2007 with shipments of 3,3 million tons, which represented a 21% increase in comparison with 2006. These results were the best in the history of the poultry sector in Brazil. The production reached 10.2 million tons, a result that kept the country as the worlds largest chicken meat exporter and the third largest producer,

3. Ausência de escapes mutantes para o medicamento palivizumab® do Vírus Respiratório Sincicial Humano (hRSV) circulante, na cidade de São Paulo durante o ano de 2004. / Absence of palivizumab escapes mutant for the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) circuling, in the city of São Paulo during the year of 2004.

4. Newcastle disease virus infection in sparrows (Passer domesticus, Linneaus, 1758) captured in poultry farms of the agreste region of the State of Pernambuco
Reservoir competence for the Newcastle Disease virus (NDV) was evaluated in sparrows (Passer domesticus, Linnaeus 1758) captured on a commercial poultry farm and a chicken hatchery in the State of Pernambuco, Northeastern Brazil. A total number of 103 birds collected from a poultry farm (24/103) and a chicken hatchery (79/103) were examined. Hemagglutination

Estudo anátomo-patológico, imunoistoquímico, microbiológico, hematológico e sorológico / Experimental infection with Paramyxovirus in Boa constrictor (LINNAEUS, 1758) snakes . A pathological, imunohistochemical, microbiological, hematological and serological study
Despite multiple advances in the genetic and taxonomic understanding of ophidian paramyxovirus (OPMV), only pulmonary pathogenesis is reasonably known in viperids. The objective of the present study was to investigate the pathogenesis of paramyxovirus infection in Boidae by pathological, imunohistochemical, microbiological, hematological and serological stud

7. ISOLATION OF AN OPHIDIAN PARAMYXOVIRUS (OPMV) IN A CAPTIVE RATTLESNAKE (Crotalus durissus terrificus) FROM BOTUCATU, SÃO PAULO STATE, BRAZIL
This study reports the isolation of an Ophidian Paramyxovirus (OPMV) in sputum of a captive rattlesnake (Crotalus durissus terrificus) kept in a serpentarium located in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and nested-PCR were performed for the identification of the isolated virus.

8. Molecular Characterization of Avian Paramyxovirus 1 Isolates Collected from Cormorants in Canada from 1995 to 2000
Sequences encompassing cleavage sites of fusion protein genes were obtained for avian paramyxovirus 1 isolates from cormorants in Canada. All isolates have the virulent cleavage site SRGRRQKR*FVG. They form a distinct cluster within isolates obtained around the world and may represent a novel genotype closely related to genotype V.

9. Sequence and structure alignment of Paramyxoviridae attachment proteins and discovery of enzymatic activity for a morbillivirus hemagglutinin.
On the basis of the conservation of neuraminidase (N) active-site residues in influenza virus N and paramyxovirus hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN), it has been suggested that the three-dimensional (3D) structures of the globular heads of the two proteins are broadly similar. In this study, details of this structural similarity are worked out. Detailed multip

10. Peptides from conserved regions of paramyxovirus fusion (F) proteins are potent inhibitors of viral fusion.
The synthetic peptides DP-107 and DP-178 (T-20), derived from separate domains within the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) transmembrane (TM) protein, gp4l, are stable and potent inhibitors of HIV-1 infection and fusion. Using a computer searching strategy (computerized antiviral searching technology, C.A.S.T.) based on the predicted secondary str
