1. Numerical simulation of bolted connections
Abstract This article presents the modeling of a complete bolted connection based on a model with one bolt connecting two or three plates. Initially, the behavior of this model with one bolt is analyzed by comparing it with existing bibliography for 3 different types of applied load: tension, shear and a combination of these two. This model includes all nece

2. Application of Response Surface Modeling and Chemometrics Methods for the Determination of Ofloxacin in Human Urine Using Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction Combined with Spectrofluorimetry
Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) and spectrofluorimetry, coupled with chemometrics methods, are proposed in this work for the pre-concentration and determination of ofloxacin concentration in spiked human urine. Chloroform and acetonitrile were selected as the extraction and dispersive solvents by the one-variable-at-a-time process. The Box-B

3. An Analytical Solution for Fiber Optic Links with Photonic-Assisted Millimeter Wave Upconversion Due to MZM Nonlinearities
Abstract Photonic-assisted technique employed in the generation of stable and high-purity signals in the millimeter wave band has been investigated using dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator. Indeed, this type of generation performs a high order RF multiplier, whose operation principle steams out from the nonlinear characteristic of the external modulators.

4. Geophysical modeling in gold deposit through DC Resistivity and Induced Polarization methods
Abstract Ore mining fundamentally depends on the definition of its tenor and volume, something extremely complex in disseminated mineralization, as in the case of certain types of deposits of gold and sulfites. This article proposes the use of electrical tomography for definition of a geophysical signature in terms of electrical resistivity and chargeability

5. Mortars Properties Obtained by Partial Replacement of Portland Cement by Ground Waste Calcined Clay Bricks / Propriedades de argamassas obtidas pela substituição parcial de cimento Portland por rejeitos particulados de tijolos
This work describes the results of an investigation on the possible applications of ground waste calcined clay bricks (WCB) for use as an active partial replacement for Portland cement in mortars. The investigation has been carried out using a full factorial design for experimental design. For the study, the physical and mechanical properties along their dur

6. Estudo comparativo da aplicaÃÃo de vinhaÃa tratada e in natura em solos sob cultivo de cana-de-aÃÃcar
Brazil is the world leader in sugarcane plantation. Its economical exploration generates residues, standing out the vinasse. Due to the problems of ecological and social order caused by the vinasse, the most plausible solution for its disposition is the application to the soil as fertilizer. However, that application requests studies to guide the management

7. GPGPU based image segmentation livewire algorithm implementation.
This thesis presents a Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) implementation of the Livewire algorithm, instead of using traditional architectures, like the CPU. The GPU is a Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) architecture. The algorithm is divided in three phases: Sobel or Laplacian filter convolution, image modeling as a grid graph and solving the non-negative

8. Fuzzy modelling for trajectory fixation in chaotic systems. / Modelagem fuzzy para fixação de trajetórias em sistemas caóticos.
A mapping of analytical tools for representation and computational treatment of Fuzzy Systems was made in this thesis. This mapping evidenced the existence of relations and the adequacy of the use of the Fuzzy Theory in the models construction for the problems solution involving dynamic systems e, in particular, of chaotic systems. A differentiation was cons

9. Controles monovariáveis e multivariáveis aplicados a sistemas aeroespaciais fracamente ou fortemente acoplados / Monovariable and multivariable controls applied to weakly or strongly coupled aerospace systems
This work intends to study and compare two Classical (Single Input Single Output) Control design methods and three Modern (Multiple Input Multiple Output) Control design methods applied to weakly or heavily coupled aerospace systems. This work has as first application the Multi-Mission Platform - MMP currently under development at INPE. The models are develo

10. Modelagem e otimização de um robô de arquitetura paralela para aplicações industriais. / Modeling and optimization of a parallel architecture robot for industrial applications.
This work is about the study of parallel architecture robots, focusing in modeling and optimization. No physical prototypes were built, although the virtual models can help those willing to do so. After searching for an application that could benefit from the use of a parallel robot, another search was made, this time for the right architecture type. After s

11. Proposta de um sistema de modelagem e predição analitica de desempenho para uma plataforma de processamento paralelo / Proposal of a performance modeling and analytical prediction system for a parallel processing system
Performance prediction is an important mechanism to evaluate the use of resources and predict the execution time of applications in parallel systems. This work presents a tool for the creation of models that represent applications and computers characteristics. Such models are combined to generate a performance model, whose analysis derives execution time es

12. "Índices de carga e desempenho em ambientes paralelos/distribuídos - modelagem e métricas" / Load and Performance Index for Parallel/Distributed System - Modelling and Metrics
This thesis approaches the problem of evaluating an adequate load index or a performance index, for using in process scheduling in heterogeneous parallel/distributed computing systems. A wide literature review with the corresponding critical analysis is presented. This review is the base for the comparison of the existing metrics for the evaluation of the co
