1. Evaluation of the cell block technique as an auxiliary method of diagnosing jawbone lesions
This study investigated the viability of the cell block technique as an auxiliary method of diagnosing jawbone lesions. Thirty-three clinically diagnosed jawbone lesions with a cystic appearance were subjected to aspiration. The aspirated material was processed by the cell block technique, and the lesions were biopsied and treated. Cytological findings (cell

2. Syndecan-1 (CD138) and Ki-67 expression in odontogenic cystic lesions

3. Estudo demografico e clinico-patologico retrospetivo de tumores odontogenicos de uma casuistica da cidade do Rio de Janeiro / A retrospective study on demographical and clinicopathological presentation of odontogenic turmors in Rio de Janeiro
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relative frequency and demographical, clinical, radiological and pathological features of a series of odontogenic tumors (OT) from the files of 3 oral histopathology services and 1 general histopathology service from the city of Rio de Janeiro in the period from 1970 to 2008, after reviewing their final diagnosis acc

4. Avaliação da estabilidade biológica do tumor odontogênico queratocístico em diferentes momentos / Biological stability evaluation of the keratocystic odontogenic tumor in different moments
The keratocystic odontogenic tumor is a benign odontogenic tumor recently classified as such by the World Health Organization. The high recurrence rate, the similarity with other odontogenic cystic lesions and the genetic associated mutations continuous stimulate studies intending diagnostic enhancement and behavior understanding of such lesion. The citokera

5. Estudo imunoistoquímico da expressão de a-actina de músculo liso, metaloproteinase de matriz-2, syndecan-1, ki-67 e p53 em cistos radiculares, cistos dentígeros e tumores odontogênicos queratocísticos / Immunohistochemistry study of the expression of smooth muscle α-actine, matrix-2 metalloproteinase, 1-syndecan, 67-ki and p53 in radicular cysts, odontogenic cysts and odontogenic keratocysts
Epidemiological studies of oral diseases are important to verify the relative prevalence of reactive, infectious, cystic and neoplastic lesions, and to determine strategies of prevention and treatment. Moreover, geographical differences may lead to clues regarding the causes of these lesions. Frequency of oral diseases varies throughout the world, and it is

7. p53 protein in odontogenic cysts: increased expression in some odontogenic keratocysts.
AIMS: To assess p53 protein expression in a range of odontogenic cysts arising in the mouth, including those of developmental and inflammatory origin. METHODS: p53 protein was identified using the polyclonal antibody CM-1, together with a standard immunoperoxidase technique. A total of 36 cystic lesions were examined, all of which were histologically benign.
