1. Radiation Balance and Partitioning of Latent and Sensible Heat Fluxes Over a Lime Orchard in Eastern Amazon
Abstract We investigate the balance of radiation and energy over a lime orchard in Eastern Amazon and how it relates to environmental conditions. We found that lime trees aged between 6 and 7 years old reflect 11.0% to 14.5% of incoming shortwave radiation, and the latent heat flux corresponds to 57.6% and 66.6% of the daily net radiation in the dry season (

2. EFFECTS OF PHOTOSELECTIVE SHADE NETS ON EARLY GROWTH OF SUGARCANE SEEDLINGS
ABSTRACT Sugarcane has a great economic interest in Brazil, so it needs technologies to increase its yield strength, especially for seedling production. This study aimed to ascertain the influence of shading nets on early growth and development of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlings. An experiment was conducted in a protected environment, in the Rural Federal U

3. Photo-selective shade nets on the production and quality of sugarcane plantlets

4. Evaluation of OSEB and SEBAL models for energy balance of a crop area in a humid subtropical climate
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the adequacy of the One-Source Energy Balance (OSEB) and Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) models to estimate evapotranspiration in grain growing areas with humid subtropical climate in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. The dataset was obtained from a micrometeorological station (Eddy Covariance) and MODIS (Mod

5. Energy balance partitioning and evapotranspiration from irrigated Muskmelon under Semi-Arid Conditions
ABSTRACT The Mossoró-Assu-Baraúna district, Rio Grande do Norte State (RN), is recognized by the intense production of horticulture, mainly muskmelon for export. However, this region is often devastated by intense droughts. Thus, the muskmelon production is predominantly under irrigated condition and, due to constant threat of water resources collapse on t

6. EMPIRICAL METHODS FOR ESTIMATING REFERENCE SURFACE NET RADIATION FROM SOLAR RADIATION
ABSTRACT Net radiation (Rn) of reference surface is important information that has many applications, but its measurement is rare due to the high cost of the sensor and the complexity involved on the measurement. Therefore, estimate Rn from another variable is desirable, as from solar radiation (Rs); however, standard methods used are complex, making interes

7. Microclimate alterations caused by agricultural hail net coverage and effects on apple tree yield in subtropical climate of Southern Brazil
ABSTRACT The use of hail net coverage on plants is an effective measure to mitigate damage caused by hailstorms. In southern Brazil, areas with apple orchards under hail net coverage have increased in recent years. However, little is known about the possible effects on the microclimate and, consequently, on plant growth, crop yield and fruit quality. The hyp

8. REFERENCE EVAPOTRANSPIRATION FORECASTING BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS
ABSTRACT: Evapotranspiration (ET) is the main component of water balance in agricultural systems and the most active variable of the hydrological cycle. In the literature, few studies have used the forecast the day before via Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for the northern region of São Paulo state, Brazil. Therefore, this aimed to predict the reference

9. TOPOGRAPHIC ASPECTS IN THE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DYNAMIC OF NET RADIATION
ABSTRACT: The measurements obtained by remote sensing are influenced by issues related to relief. Based on that, this paper aims to analyze the spatial and temporal dynamics of the net radiation (Rn), considering the influence of topographic parameters on it, in Edgárdia Experimental Farm (FEE). It was used the methodology based on the SEBAL algorithm (Surf

10. INFLUENCIA DEL USO DE MALLA PERLA Y ROJA EN LAS CONDICIONES MICRO-CLIMÁTICAS, DAÑO POR SOL Y DESARROLLO DE COLOR DE FRUTOS EN HUERTOS DE MANZANOS CVS. GALA Y FUJI
ABSTRACT Sun damage and the lack of color of fruits produced by excessive solar radiation and high temperatures is the biggest production problem in apple orchards in Chile. The objective of this research was to evaluate the use of colored nets as a tool for control of sun damage and improve color on apples. During the 2012-13 and 2013-14 season ´Fuji´ an

12. Ecophysiology of deciduous plants grown at different densities in the semiarid region of Brazil
Physiological differences in the Cordia oncocalyx tree growing at different densities in two distinct areas were investigated. An agrosilvopastoral system (AGP) and a secondary forest (SF) were studied. Under both types of land-use, C. oncocalyx presented a relative frequency of approximately 50%, and absolute densities of 670 and 80 individuals per hectare,
