1. NET PRIMARY PRODUCTIVITY OF A MOUNTAIN FOREST ECOSYSTEM AS AFFECTED BY CLIMATE AND TOPOGRAPHY
ABSTRACT Response of terrestrial ecosystems to changing climate has become an issue of central importance for land managers and policymakers. Climate extremes and trends have a strong control on productivity of semi-arid mountain ecosystems. Located in a transition zone from continental type climate to relatively mild Black Sea type climate in Turkey, the Il

2. Rhizobium rhizogenes-mediated transformation of Rhodiola rosea leaf explants
ABSTRACT Rhodiola rosea L. is an endangered medicinal plant distributed in mountains and in high latitude regions. For its conservation, sustainable methods for the obtaining of its bioactive compounds must be developed. This work hypothesized that leaf, stem and rhizome explants of R. rosea from different geographical origins respond differently to inoculat

5. An autochthonous case of paracoccidioidomycosis in a new area of Ceara State, Northeastern Brazil
ABSTRACT The largest endemic areas of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) in Brazil comprise the humid agricultural regions of the Southeast, South, and, recently, the Midwest and North regions. The Ceara State, located in the Brazilian Northeast region, presents semi-arid climate in most of its territory, characterized by high temperatures, scarce vegetation and l

7. Technical contributions to territorial planning and the use of ecosystemic services in a hydrographic basin with a water deficit in the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil

8. Chemical diversity of the volatiles of Lippia rotundifolia Cham. (Verbenaceae) in Minas Gerais, Brazil
Lippia rotundifolia is an aromatic species, native and endemic to rocky fields, which are isolated by small mountains. It is little known about their chemical composition. Because of that we aimed to study the chemical diversity of volatiles released from rosemary leaves (Lippia rotundifolia Cham.) coming from 11 populations of the Minas Gerais, Brazil. The

9. A new species and new records of minuta-group Gnamptogenys from Brazil (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)
ABSTRACT We report new records of Gnamptogenys caelata Kempf (1967) and Gnamptogenys minuta (Emery, 1896) from Brazil. We also describe Gnamptogenys piei n. sp. from Southeast Brazil. This distinctive new species is known only from a single worker found in leaf litter from montane forests of the Mantiqueira mountains in Itatiaia National Park, Rio de Janeiro

10. Plasticity in the timing of activity in the Red-rumped Agouti, Dasyprocta leporina (Mammalia: Rodentia), in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil

11. Genetic characterization, evaluation of growth and production of biomass of strains from wild edible mushrooms of Lyophyllum of Central Mexico
Abstract The present study conducted a genetic characterization and determined growth rate and biomass production in solid and liquid media, using strains obtained from wild edible sporomes of Lyophyllum that grow in high mountains. Vegetative isolation was used to obtain a total of four strains, which were divided into two clades within the section Difformi

12. Variations in culturable bacterial communities and biochemical properties in the foreland of the retreating Tianshan No. 1 glacier
Abstract As a glacier retreats, barren areas are exposed, and these barren areas are ideal sites to study microbial succession. In this study, we characterized the soil culturable bacterial communities and biochemical parameters of early successional soils from a receding glacier in the Tianshan Mountains. The total number of culturable bacteria ranged from
