1. Wear and Corrosion Study of Plasma Nitriding F53 Super duplex Stainless Steel
Super duplex stainless steels (SDSS) have high corrosion resistance because of their high contents of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen but low wear resistance. To improve the wear resistance of these steels without affecting their corrosion resistance, samples of SDSS were treated by plasma ion nitriding at temperatures ranging from 350 °C to 570

2. Micro Abrasive Wear Behaviour Study of Carburization and Ion Plasma Nitriding of P20 Steel
P20 steel, which is mainly used in plastic molds, was thermochemically treated by ion plasma nitriding and solid and gas carburization. In this work, the solid and gas carburization were performed at 925 ºC for four different durations. The ion plasma nitriding was performed at 520 ºC for four different durations. The thermochemical treatment increased the

3. Effect of Low Temperature Nitriding of 100Cr6 Substrates on TiN Coatings Deposited by IBAD
In this paper we studied the influence of pre-treating the surface of 100Cr6 steel by ion beam nitriding at low temperature (380°C) on the surface topography and wear resistance of thin TiN coatings deposited by reactive ion beam assisted deposition. The specimens were characterized by grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and at

4. Cathodic cage plasma nitriding of austenitic stainless steel (AISI 316): influence of the working pressure on the nitrided layers properties
In this work, the influence of working pressure on the characteristics of the layers produced by the nitriding treatment on the AISI 316 austenitic stainless steel surface using the Cathodic Cage Plasma Nitriding technique (CCPN) is assessed. The treatments were carried out at a temperature of 723 K for 5 hours under working pressures of 120, 250 and 500 Pa.

5. Caracterização das camadas formadas pela nitretação a plasma de ferro sinterizado / CHARACTERIZATION OF LAYERS FORMED BY PLASMA NITRIDING AT SINTERED IRON

8. Modificação e caracterização da superfície do aço inoxidável Martensítico AISI 410 / Surface modification and characterization of the AISI 410 Martensitic stainless steel
This work deals about the surface modification of the AISI 410 martensitic stainless steel. The modification of steel surfaces is important for the improvement of its mechanical and tribological properties. Among the modification processes, there are coating, deposition of thin films, and ion implantation. The AISI 410 stainless steel is widely applied by ma

9. Characteristics of austenitic stainless steel nitrided in a hybrid glow discharge plasma
A nitriding process based on two distinct nitrogen glow discharge modes, with sample temperatures ranging from 380 0C to 480 0C, was employed to treat the surface of austenitic stainless steel (SS 304). The temperature is controlled exclusively by switching the operation conditions of the discharges. First mode of operation is the conventional one, named cat
