1. The Contribution of Meteorological Parameters and the COVID-19 Partial Lockdown on Air Quality in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This study evaluated the pollutant levels (NO2, SO2, CO, and O3), air quality index (AQI) and the influence of meteorological variables and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on the air quality in Rio de Janeiro. The data set used comprises periods before (March-April, 2019) and during pandemic (March-April, 2020). According to the AQI results, on most

2. Forecasting mass and metallurgical balance at a gold processing plant using modern multivariate statistics
Abstract Knowing the quantity and the quality of products and tailings generated by a beneficiation plant, even before ore processing, can make the mining operations more sustainable, more profitable, and safer. To forecast these values, it is necessary to submit samples to batch tests which mimic the processing workflow used on an industrial scale. Then, th

3. Genetic diversity and nonparametric statistics to identify possible ISSR marker association with fiber quality of pineapple
Abstract: Due to the increasing search for renewable resources, plant fibers have become an alternative when creating new products. Studies demonstrate the potential use of pineapple fibers in composites. The objective of this work was to evaluate the genetic diversity and verify any association between ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeats) bands and quality

5. Yeast fermentation of sugarcane for ethanol production: Can it be monitored by using in situ microscopy?
ABSTRACT This paper addresses some key issues related to the automation of fermentation process analysis in the context of industrial-scale ethanol production from sugarcane substrates. As the current methods for the determination of cell density and viability are time consuming and laborious, high resolution in situ microscopy (0.5µm) is proposed as a prom

6. Alianzas de los empresarios industriales en la crisis del neoliberalismo en Argentina
Abstract The article discusses the political action of industrialist businessmen to influence state policies in the economic crisis of 1998-2001, focusing on its corporate organization (the Union Industrial Argentina) and the alliances that it builds. Our hypothesis is that on the beginning of the crisis in late 1998, it was producing a division of businessm

7. CONTROL PROPOSAL FOR A HIGH PURITY COLUMN BASED ON THE SEPARATION OF VARIABLES BY THE INDEPENDENT COMPONENT ANALYSIS METHOD
Abstract Many industries are complex when it comes to operation mode. In order to reduce the problems related to strong coupling in these processes, the search for the incorporation of artificial intelligence devices has shown an increasing trend in recent years. Due to this complexity and control in multivariable processes, diagnosis and fault monitoring in

8. Daily counting of manufactured units sent for quality control: a bayesian approach
This paper presents the statistical modeling for daily counting statistics of units that arrive for quality inspection at a food company. Different Poisson regression models were considered in order to analyze the data collected, with a Bayesian focus. The main objective was to forecast the daily average count based on co-variables such as days of the week.

9. Optimized microlens-array geometry for Hartmann-Shack wavefront sensor: design, fabrication and test
The Hartmann-Shack (H-S) wavefront sensor is now deployed in many different fields, from astronomy to industrial inspection, where the quality of optical media or components can be measured by the distortions (wavefront aberrations) they impart on a wavefront transmitted or reflected by them. In ophthalmology, this sensor is a core component of major aberrom
