1. Development of radioimmunoconjugate for diagnosis and management of head-and-neck subclinical cancer and colorectal carcinoma
ABSTRACT Scientific innovations in diagnostic methods are important drivers of cancer control and prevention. Noninvasive imaging of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in head-and-neck squamous, cell carcinoma and colorectal cancer could be valuable to select patients for EGFR-targeted therapy, as well as to monitor the efficacy and occurrence of re

2. Effect of laser phototherapy in the prevention and treatment of chemo-induced mucositis in hamsters
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of laser phototherapy (LPT) in the prevention and/or treatment of oral mucositis induced by 5-fluorouracil (5-FU; Eurofarma, São Paulo, Brazil) in hamsters. Ninety-six hamsters were divided into four groups (n = 24): Control (no treatment); Preventive [LPT from day (D) D-5 to D+5]; Therapeutic (LPT from D+

3. Aplicação da espectroscopia de correlação angular perturbada na investigação de interações hiperfinas em compostos de háfnio, indio e cádmio com os ligantes F1-, OH1- e EDTA / Application of the perturbed angular correlation in the inestigation of hyperfine interactions in compounds of hafnium, indium and cadmium with F1-, OH1- and EDTA ligands

This Thesis reports the experimental and theoretical works related to the growth and characterization of free-standing gallium indium arsenide nanowires grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE). The growth mechanisms of free-standing nanowires remain barely known and explored in its fundamental aspects. The theoretical models of the formation of free-standing n

5. PREPARATION OF LYOPHILIZED KIT OF HYNIC-[Tyr3]-OCTREOTATE AND LABELING STUDIES WITH 99m-TECHNETIUM / Preparo do reagente liofilizado HYNIC-[Tyr3]-Octreotato e estudo de marcação com Tecnécio-99m
The development of radiolabeled molecules with high specificity for an organ or tumor has been contributed to the precise diagnostic in nuclear medicine. Somatostatin labeled derivatives constitutes a particular example of labeled peptide applied in the localization of neuroendocrine tumors. Nowadays, the 111In-DTPA-octreotideo is the radiopharmaceutical app

6. Preparação e padronização de metodologia de marcação in vitroe estudo de biodistribuição do octreotídeo-[Tyr3]-HYNIC/EDDA/TRICINA-[99mTc / PREPARATION AND STANDARDIZATION OF AN IN VITRO LABELING METHODOLOGY AND STUDY OF [99mTc]-EDDA/TRICINE/HYNIC-[Tyr3]-OCTREOTIDE BIODISTRIBUTION
Somatostatine receptors are widely expressed by several tumors, especially of the neuroendocrine origin. In vivo images of these tumors using radiolabeled somatostatine analogues became a useful clinical tool in oncology. The radiopharmaceutical currently applied is [111In-DTPA-Phe1-D]-octreotide. However, the use of indium-111 (111In) is limited by the prod

8. Indium-111 labelled granulocyte scanning to detect inflammation in the lungs of patients with chronic sputum expectoration.
Thirty eight patients with chronic sputum expectoration underwent indium-111 labelled granulocyte lung scanning and measurement of whole body loss of indium-111 labelled granulocytes. Twenty four patients had radiologically proved bronchiectasis and 14 had mucus hypersecretion without radiological evidence of bronchiectasis. None was having an acute exacerba

9. Imaging of bronchial carcinoid tumours with indium-111 pentetreotide.
Neuroendocrine tumours are characterised by the expression of high affinity binding sites for somatostatin. The detection of bronchial carcinoid tumours through scintigraphic imaging is described in two patients using the novel radiolabelled somatostatin analogue indium-111 pentetreotide.

10. Yersinia arthritis: demonstration of occult enteritis by 111indium leucocyte scanning.
111Indium-leucocyte scanning demonstrated enteritis in a patient with acute arthritis and diarrhoea when contrast radiology was normal. Infection with Yersinia entercolitica was proved serologically. Leucocyte scanning may be useful in the screening for inflammatory bowel disease in patients with seronegative arthritis.

11. Left ventricular platelet deposition after acute myocardial infarction. An attempt at quantification using blood pool subtracted indium-111 platelet scintigraphy.
Since indium-111 platelet scintigraphy for the detection of left ventricular thrombosis often shows considerable non-specific blood pool activity a subtraction method using simultaneous technetium-99m blood pool scintigraphy was undertaken in 11 subjects with well documented remote myocardial infarction, who served as positive or negative controls, and in 18

12. Indium 111 autologous leucocyte scanning in lobar pneumonia and lung abscesses.
Indium 111 leucocyte scanning was used to examine the kinetics of granulocyte localisation in five patients with lobar pneumonia and four patients with lung abscess. Lung abscesses showed dense accumulation of labelled granulocytes within four hours of injection. In contrast, in all cases of lobar pneumonia granulocytes failed to accumulate over a period of
