1. Mechanical Properties of Woven Mat Jute/Epoxy Composites
Natural fibers combine technological, economic and ecological aspects. However, a major restriction on their successful use in long term composite applications is their high moisture absorption and poor dimensional stability. This paper is aimed at establishing a link between the mats grammage and the mechanical properties of the epoxy/jute fibers laminates.

2. The use of geo-technologies to evaluate the potentiality of hydro-degradation in superficial waters by agro-chemicals : case of Antas River watershed, Bueno Brandão, MG / Utilização de geotecnologias para a avaliação do potencial de degradação hidrica das aguas superficiais por agroquimicos : caso da sub-bacia do Rio das Antas, Bueno Brandão, MG
In the county of Bueno Brandão, South of MG, the Antas River Watershed is located before the water supply area and is susceptible to hydro-degradation due to the damaging agricultural activities-chemicals was evaluated by the use of geotechnologies. The potato cropping is a remarkable activity among them due to the following features: intensive use of agro-

3. Management of water resources in the city of Queimados: subsidies for a diagnosis social environmental sub-basins Poços e Queimados / Gestão de recursos hídricos no município de Queimados: subsídios para um diagnóstico sócio-ambiental das sub-bacias Poços e Queimados-RJ
The transformation in the geographic field allows modifications in the environment, contributing to the degradation of considerable parts of the Hydro Resources, and, as a result, an environmental changing in different scenarios. The management of hydro resources has patterns, objectives and goals to be accomplished, based on technical aspects, juridical nor

4. THE UNSUSTAINABILITY OF SOIL USE WITH TABACCO CROP ON STEEP SLOPES / A INSUSTENTABILIDADE DO USO DO SOLO COM FUMICULTURA EM TERRAS DECLIVOSAS
Areas susceptibility to water erosion and strong pressure of soil use, as in Southern Brazil, where there is cultivation of tobacco, are prone to degradation of the natural resources. The objective of this dissertation was to evaluate the unsustainability of the natural resources in a watershed under tobacco production, characterized by steep slopes, with in

5. DiagnÃstico ambiental e proposta de monitoramento da Ãrea do Lago de Miranda pertencente ao municÃpio de IndianÃpolis â MG
The construction of the hydro-electric power station and the consequent creation of an artificial lake, in the city of IndianÃpolis - MG, had brought ambient impacts that had unchained substantial modifications in its around. This induced all the indianopolense population to learn to coexist an area, seen now as leisure area, that before did not exist; what

6. A ocupação da Bacia do Rio das Velhas relacionada aos tipos de solo e processos erosivos
With the intention of avoiding the occurrence of erosive processes and the environmental damages that these cause to the hydrographic basin, it is important to know the influence that the soil characteristics, together with the way in which it is occupied, can have on environmental degradation. With this in mind, this study attempted to establish the relatio

7. Utilização de basidiomicetos ligninoliticos na degradação de corantes industriais e no tratamento do efluente de uma industria de alimentos
This work describes the degradative action of two basidiomycetes, Pleurotus sajor caju (020) and Phanerochaete chrysosporium ATCC 24725, on the following natural or synthetic dyes: a) hydro-soluble annatto (norbixin) b) cannirn (carminic acid); c) a combination of these with the fat-soluble annatto (bixin); d) new coccine; e) orange G; f) chrorne azurol S; g

8. Reavaliação de metodos analiticos e determinação da composição de carotenoides e valor da vitamina A em mamão e caja
Due to conflicting results and lack of definitions still existing in terms of the adequate methodology for determination of carotenoids and vitamin A value of fruits and vegetables, the more controversial steps of the analytical procedure were studied-Utilizing kale as test material, the efficiency of common extracting solvents was assessed. Samples extracte

9. Characterization of the Upper Pathway Genes for Fluorene Metabolism in Terrabacter sp. Strain DBF63
Genes involved in the degradation of fluorene to phthalate were characterized in the fluorene degrader Terrabacter sp. strain DBF63. The initial attack on both fluorene and 9-fluorenone was catalyzed by DbfA to yield 9-fluorenol and 1,1a-dihydroxy-1-hydro-9-fluorenone, respectively. The FlnB protein exhibited activities against both 9-fluorenol and 1,1a-dihy

10. Evidence for a novel pathway in the degradation of fluorene by Pseudomonas sp. strain F274.
A fluorene-utilizing microorganism, identified as a species of Pseudomonas, was isolated from soil severely contaminated from creosote use and was shown to accumulate six major metabolites from fluorene in washed-cell incubations. Five of these products were identified as 9-fluorenol, 9-fluorenone, (+)-1,1a-dihydroxy-1-hydro-9-fluorenone, 8-hydroxy-3,4-benzo

11. Microbial degradation of dibenzofuran, fluorene, and dibenzo-p-dioxin by Staphylococcus auriculans DBF63.
Staphylococcus auriculans DBF63, which can grow on dibenzofuran (DBF) or fluorene (FN) as the sole source of carbon and energy, was isolated. Salicylic acid and gentisic acid accumulated in the culture broth of this strain when DBF was supplied as a growth substrate. Also, the formation of 9-fluorenol, 9-fluorenone, 4-hydroxy-9-fluorenone, and 1-hydroxy-9-fl

12. Analysis of the Alternative Pathways for the β-Oxidation of Unsaturated Fatty Acids Using Transgenic Plants Synthesizing Polyhydroxyalkanoates in Peroxisomes1
Degradation of fatty acids having cis-double bonds on even-numbered carbons requires the presence of auxiliary enzymes in addition to the enzymes of the core β-oxidation cycle. Two alternative pathways have been described to degrade these fatty acids. One pathway involves the participation of the enzymes 2,4-dienoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) reductase and Δ3-Δ2-en
