1. CALISTEGINAS, ALCALÓIDES POLIHIDROXILADOS PRESENTES EM HORTALIÇAS: FRUTOS E TUBEROSAS
Calystegines are nortropane alkaloids with three to five hydroxyl groups. These alkaloids are recognized as glycosidase inhibitors and thus may have therapeutic potential to be exploited. There are also reports of its possible toxic effects when they are present in foods. Commercial cultivars of human consumption in Brazil have been analyzed for calystegines

2. Synthesis and Cytotoxic Evaluation of 1H-1,2,3-Triazol-1-ylmethyl-2,3-dihydronaphtho[1,2-b]furan-4,5-diones
ABSTRACT The 1,2-naphthoquinone compound was previously considered active against solid tumors. Moreover, glycosidase inhibitors such as 1,2,3-1H triazoles has been pointed out as efficient compounds in anticancer activity studies. Thus, a series of eleven 1,2-naphthoquinones tethered in C2 to 1,2,3-1H-triazoles 9a-k were designed, synthesized and their cyto

3. Aqueous extract of Psidium guajava leaves: phenolic compounds and inhibitory potential on digestive enzymes
ABSTRACT Leaves of Psidium guajava L. (guava) have been widely used in the popular way for prevention and treatment of various diseases. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory potential of leaves aqueous extract from three cultivars of P. guajava (Pedro Sato, Paluma and Século XXI) on α-amylase, α-glycosidase, lipase, and trypsin

4. Cloning, structural modelling and characterization of VesT2s, a wasp venom hyaluronidase (HAase) from Vespa tropica
Abstract Background: Wasp venom is a complex mixture containing proteins, enzymes and small molecules, including some of the most dangerous allergens. The greater banded wasp (Vespa tropica) is well-known for its lethal venom, whose one of the major components is a hyaluronidase (HAase). It is believed that the high protein proportion and activity of this e

5. Acarbose versus trans-chalcone: comparing the effect of two glycosidase inhibitors on obese mice
Objective Acarbose and trans-chalcone are glucosidase inhibitors whose beneficial effects have been demonstrated in diabetes. The present study aimed at investigating their potential effects in obesity.Materials and methods NMRI male mice (n = 48) were subjected to a high fat diet for four weeks, which induced an initial state of obesity. One control group w

6. Immobilization of puerarin glycosidase from Microbacterium oxydans CGMCC 1788 increases puerarin transformation efficiency
For immobilization of puerarin glycosidase from Microbacterium oxydans CGMCC 1788 on DEAE-52 cellulose, the optimal amount of enzyme protein was 12 mg protein: 1 g DEAE-52 cellulose; the optimal pH was 6.5; and the optimal immobilization time was 6 hr. The specific activity of immobilized enzyme was 36.67 mU.g-1 carrier with an immobilization yield of 98.87%

7. Analysis of castor bean ribosome-inactivating proteins and their gene expression during seed development
Ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) are enzymes that inhibit protein synthesis after depurination of a specific adenine in rRNA. The RIP family members are classified as type I RIPs that contain an RNA-N-glycosidase domain and type II RIPs that contain a lectin domain (B chain) in addition to the glycosidase domain (A chain). In this work, we identified 30

8. Avaliação físico-química e funcional da algaroba prosopis juliflora proveniente da mesorregião agreste do Rio Grande do Norte / Physical-chemical and functional evaluation of algaroba (Prosopis juliflora) from Rio Grande do Nortes semi arid

9. Estudo das características físico-químicas e funcionalidade de bagaços de frutas tropicais desidratados em leito de jorro / Physical-chemical characterization and functionality of dried tropical fruit wastes obtained by using the spouted bed drier
Fruits are rich sources of bioactive compounds, including phenolic compounds. Tropical fruit cultivation is an important productive segment in Brazilian Northeast. Its industrialization generates solid wastes as co-products, with potential environmental impact. Considering the recognized bioactive content of fruit and its derivatives, this research has the o

10. Characterization of the interdependency between residues that bind the substrate in a β-glycosidase
The manner by which effects of simultaneous mutations combine to change enzymatic activity is not easily predictable because these effects are not always additive in a linear manner. Hence, the characterization of the effects of simultaneous mutations of amino acid residues that bind the substrate can make a significant contribution to the understanding of t

12. Diatraea saccharalis larvae midgut β-glicosidases: cDNAs cloning and sequencing, expression and some properties / β-glicosidases intestinais da larva de Diatraea saccharalis: clonagem e sequenciamento dos cDNAs, expressão e algumas propriedades
