1. Use of Inert Gases for the Preservation of Nuclear Blood Cells
Abstract The subject of the study was the stability of human white blood cell membranes subject to noble gases (xenon ad krypton, 0.6 mPa) clathrate cryoanabiosis (‒80°C). A unique portable stainless steel low pressure container with a compartment for flexible plastic container was designed to ensure that the cells are saturated with gases. The samples we

2. Harmonious interaction of incorporating CNTs and zeolitic imidazole frameworks into polysulfone to prepare high performance MMMs for CO 2 separation from humidified post combustion gases
Abstract Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and zeolitic imidazole frameworks (ZIF-301) were synergistically incorporated into glassy polysulfone (PSF) to prepare mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) to separate CO2 from post combustion flue gas. The flexible MMMs rendering consistent distribution and improved adhesion of nanofillers with the polymer matrix were

3. MODIFICAÇÃO DE MEMBRANA DE POLIAMIDA VIA SOL-GEL E INCORPORAÇÃO DE COMPOSTO DE EURÓPIO (III) LUMINESCENTE
Over the last decades, the combination of different technologies to search for systems with new properties and features has brought various segments of biological and earth sciences together. Additive manufacturing, known as rapid prototyping, combined with the sol-gel methodology enables the production of novel systems with applications in many scientific f

4. Optically transparent membrane based on bacterial cellulose/polycaprolactone
Optically transparent membranes from bacterial cellulose (BC)/polycaprolactone (PCL) have been prepared by impregnation of PCL acetone solution into dried BC membranes. UV-Vis measurements showed an increase on transparency in BC/PCL membrane when compared with pristine BC. The good transparency of the BC/PCL can be related to the presence of BC nanofibers a

5. Estudo de Filmes Automontados de látex de borracha natural, Carboximetil-quitosana e nanopartículas magnéticas / Study of Self-Assembling Films of Natural Rubber Latex, carboxymethyl chitosan and magnetic nanoparticles
In this work, we investigated the fabrication of ultrathin films of natural rubber latex (NRL), carboxymethyl-chitosan (CMC) and magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (MNP) in different supramolecular architectures. The materials choice was based on the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of NRL, antimicrobial action of CMC and magnetic properties of MNP, w

6. IMPERMEABILIZAÇÃO DAS SUPERFÍCIES DE CONTATO PARA IMPLANTAÇÃO DE ESTRUTURAS DE CONCRETO EM MACIÇO DE ROCHA SULFETADA - O CASO DA UHE IRAPÉ -
The water that percolates through acid sulfate rock masses can become chemically aggressive to concrete, thereby compromising some of its characteristics, such as watertightness and strength. The presence of acid sulfates in the rock mass at the installation site of the Irapé Hydroelectric Power Plant led to the study and implementation of protective measur

7. Atomistic simulation for difusion mechanisms investigation : self diffusion coeficient of simples gases in polymeric matrix / Simulação atomistica como ferramenta para investigação dos mecanismos de difusão : coeficientes de autodifusão de gases simples em matriz polimerica
In this thesis a study of the predictive potential of the molecular dynamic simulation was performed for transport properties of light gases in polyimide matrix. From de practical point of view permeability is the property of most interest, and involves kinetics as well as thermodynamics properties, diffusion coefficient and solubility of the penetrants mole

8. Estudo das estruturas de membrana: uma abordagem integrada do sistema construtivo, do processo de projetar e dos métodos de análise / Study of membrane structures: an integrated approach of the constructive system, design process and analysis methods
Membrane structures used in roofs are constructive systems formed mainly by structural membrane, which has also the function of sealing. Structural membranes are flexible sheets that resist to external loads due to their form, to their physical characteristics and to their pre-stressing. The pre-stressing of the membrane can be achieved either through its st

9. Geração computacional de formas livres de estruturas em casca
In shell structures, geometrical shapes are important for the determination of their correct behavior. The stress state is strongly dependent on the geometrical shape. The ideal stress state for these structures is the pure compression state. In this work a relati vely simple process to generate free form shells by means of mathematical programming combined

10. Interphases of chain molecules: Monolayers and lipid bilayer membranes
Using the lattice model for a liquid, we treat the packing of short-chain molecules in interphases such as bilayer membranes. The constant density in the interphase imposes intermolecular constraints on the configurations of the flexible chains. The statistical theory here presented predicts a diffuse distribution of chain ends near the bilayer midplane; no

11. Molecular architecture of photosynthetic membranes in Rhodobacter sphaeroides: the role of PufX
The effects of the PufX polypeptide on membrane architecture were investigated by comparing the composition and structures of photosynthetic membranes from PufX+ and PufX− strains of Rhodobacter sphaeroides. We show that this single polypeptide profoundly affects membrane morphology, leading to highly elongated cells containing extended tubular membranes.

12. Crystal structure of vesicular stomatitis virus matrix protein
The vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) matrix protein (M) interacts with cellular membranes, self-associates and plays a major role in virus assembly and budding. We present the crystallographic structure, determined at 1.96 Å resolution, of a soluble thermolysin resistant core of VSV M. The fold is a new fold shared by the other vesiculovirus matrix protei
