1. Fuzzy Boundary for Beams Vibrations in Vehicles
ABSTRACT This work aims to study the transversal motion of a car’s chassis, modeled by a beam and supported at its ends by two sets of spring-damper elements. A finite differences method is utilized along with Robin boundary conditions to solve the mathematical modeling. The constants of the boundary conditions are modeled by a fuzzy parameter obtained thr

2. Evaluation of the Current in the Cell Membrane for Numerical Simulations of Electroporation
Abstract This study presents a rigorous numerical analysis of the current in the cell membrane, subjected to a uniform electric field, and its impact in the pore formation. The numerical model considers a single cell composed of uniform membrane and cytoplasm, in a suspension medium. The current in the cell membrane is calculated using two different approach

3. Two-dimensional beams in rectangular coordinates using the radial point interpolation method
Abstract The three-dimensional Theory of Elasticity equations lead to a complex solution for most problems in engineering. Therefore, the solutions are typically developed for reduced systems, usually symmetrical or two-dimensional. In this context, computational resources allow the reduction of these simplifications. The most recognized methods of algebraic

4. Simulation of Stress Distribution on the Upper First Molar and Alveolar Bone with the Transpalatal Arch and Upper Second Molar Using Finite Element Analysis
Abstract Objective: To evaluate the differences in the stress distribution on the upper first molar with and without transpalatal arch and a second molar when a 150 g force is applied during canine distalization using finite element analysis. Material and Methods: We constructed several models with data obtained by scanning human skulls using cone beam com

5. Hardening and Dynamic Recovery During Hot Compression Test of Copper Simulated as Viscoplastic Material
The Norton-Bailey equation was used to simulate by finite elements the hardening and dynamic recovery of copper during the hot compression tests. The constants of Norton-Bailey equation were determined from the Voce-Kocks model. The simulation assumes a Mortar Contact with Coulomb friction and axial symmetry. Numerical results were compared with experiments.

6. Comparison of the methodological quality and transparency of Brazilian practice guidelines

7. Computational algorithm for the verification of reinforced concrete sections in fire situation
Neste

8. Influence of the Micromechanics Models and Volume Fraction Distribution on the Overall Behavior of SiC/Al Functionally Graded Pressurized Cylinders
Abstract The assessment of the differences in results obtained from various micromechanics homogenization schemes, as well as the implications of assuming different volume fraction profiles was carried out in the present work. The functionally graded composite chosen for the analysis was Al-SiC and comparisons were made in terms of stress and strain distribu

9. Fertility Life Table, Population Parameters and Biotic Potential of Helicoverpa gelotopoeon (Dyar) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
Abstract Helicoverpa gelotopoeon is an endemic pest of South America that affects soybean and other important crops. Life tables are a fundamental tool used to study insect populations, resulting in crucial information for integrated pest management programs. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the biotic potential and the construction of a life

10. Sensitivity analysis of 3D frictional contact with BEM using complex-step differentiation
Abstract This paper presents a study of the complex step differentiation method applied to a parameter sensitivity analysis for 3D elastic contact problem. The analysis is performed with the Boundary Element Method (BEM) using discontinuous elements and the Generalized Newton Method with line search (GNMls). A standard BEM implementation is used and the cont

11. Mathematical modeling of the batch adsorption of proteins on new restricted access media with poly(ethylene glycol) as a semi-permeable barrier using compact finite differences
Abstract In this work we describe a mathematical analysis of the batch adsorption process of several proteins using a new restricted access medium consisting of agarose beads grafted with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as a semi-permeable barrier and immobilized metal ions or ion exchange groups as binding sites. The model was fitted to experimental data, allow

12. STOCHASTIC KNAPSACK PROBLEM: APPLICATION TO TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS
ABSTRACT In this paper, we study the stochastic knapsack problem with expectation constraint. We solve the relaxed version of this problem using a stochastic gradient algorithm in order to provide upper bounds for a branch-and-bound framework. Two approaches to estimate the needed gradients are studied, one based on Integration by Parts and one using Finite
