1. Do euglossine females reside in a single nest? Notes on Euglossa cordata (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossini)

2. Orchid bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossini) are seasonal in Seasonal Semideciduous Forest fragments, southern Brazil
Abstract Seasonal fluctuations in the abundance of orchid bees have already been reported. The variations in population dynamics may be expected to occur in more predictable and pronounced manners in environments with a clear distinction between rainy and dry seasons, where climatic variables are regarded to be good predictors of populational patterns. The m

3. Bombus brasiliensis Lepeletier (Hymenoptera, Apidae) infected with Nosema ceranae (Microsporidia)
ABSTRACT Heavy infections caused by a microsporidium were detected in midgut epithelium cells of two adult workers of the bumble bee Bombus brasiliensis Lepeletier collected near Puerto Iguazú, Misiones province, Argentina. Microsporidium rRNA (16S small subunit) was amplified by 218MITOC primers and produced amplicons indicating presence of Nosema ceranae

4. Observations on fragrance collection behaviour of euglossine bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae)
Male bees of the tribe Euglossini collect volatile chemicals secreted by orchids using dense patches of hair on the front tarsi. After collecting chemicals, the bee hovers while transferring these fragrances to invaginations on the hind tibiae. The fragrance collection and hovering behaviours are repeated multiple times. Here I report preliminary field obser

5. The orchid bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossina) in a forest fragment from western Paraná state, Brazil

6. Self-sterility in the hexaploid Handroanthus serratifolius (Bignoniaceae), the national flower of Brazil
Polyploidization is common among angiosperms and might induce typically allogamous plants to become autogamous (self-compatible, relying on sexual self-fertilization) or apomictic (achieving asexual reproduction through seeds). This work aimed to determine whether neopolyploidy leads to the breakdown of the self-incompatibility system in the hexaploid non-ap

7. Evidence of separate karyotype evolutionary pathway in Euglossa orchid bees by cytogenetic analyses

8. Estrutura genética e ecologia de comunidades das abelhas Euglossini (Hymenoptera; Apidae) do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar e Parque Estadual da Ilha Anchieta, Ubatuba, SP, Brasil / Genetic structure and community ecology of Euglossine bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae) of Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar and Parque Estadual da Ilha Anchieta in Ubatuba, São Paulo State, Brazil

9. Diversidade genética da abelha Eufriesea violacea (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossini)
In this study six populations of Eufriesea violacea had their genetic structure and diversity estimated using microsatellite markers and mitochondrial obtained by PCR-RFLP. The samplings of male bees were carried out in Atlantic Forest remnants located in the states of Paraná (PR1, PR2, and PR3), São Paulo (SP1), Santa Catarina (SC1) and Rio Grande do Sul

10. Orchid bees (Hymenoptera: Apidae) in the coastal forests of southern Brazil: diversity, efficiency of sampling methods and comparison with other Atlantic forest surveys

This paper presents an analysis of the foraging behavior and interactions of Xylocopa frontalis Olivier (Apidae: Xylocopini) and Eulaema mocsaryi (Friese) (Apidae: Euglossini) in the presence of stingless bees (Apidae: Meliponini) in flowers of Bertholletia excelsa, the Brazilian nut. The palynological load carried by both species was also examined. This stu

12. Eufriesea pulchra smith (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossini): extended geographic distribution and filling gaps in Mato Grosso state, Brazil
This study was conducted in the Cotriguaçu district, situated on the bank of the Juruena River, in Mato Grosso state. The collects were carried out from August 22 to 25, 2007 with chemical baits to attract male orchid bees. The bees were captured on a daily basis, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Of the 89 males captured three belonged to Eufriesea pulchra Smith. Bef
