13. Reserve metabolism of stored and germinated Araucaria angustifolia seeds
ABSTRACT. Germination metabolism of recalcitrant seeds of Araucaria angustifolia is activated in storage, which complicates the seeds conservation and utilization. This study aimed to identify the changes in the reserve metabolites of A. angustifolia seeds throughout storage in order to understand the processes of hydrolysis caused by germination metabolism.

14. Drying Kinetics of Cecropia pachystachya Leaves
ABSTRACT The species Cecropia pachystachya has important medicinal purposes and its leaves have been used in pharmaceutical research, so the drying of this product may help maintaining its chemical properties and ensure safe storage. Thus, the objective of this study was to select mathematical models to represent the drying kinetics of Cecropia pachystachya

15. Processes that influence dissolved organic matter in the soil: a review
ABSTRACT: In tropical regions, climate conditions favor fast decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM), releasing into the soil organic composts in solid, liquid, and gaseous forms with variable compositions. Dissolved organic matter (DOM), a complex mixture of thousands of organic compounds, is only a small fraction of the decomposition products; however,

16. Dielectric Behavior of α-Ag2WO4 and its Huge Dielectric Loss Tangent
The microwave-assisted hydrothermal method was used to obtain α-Ag2WO4. Rietveld refinement confirmed that α-Ag2WO4 is stable in the orthorhombic phase, without secondary phase. However, field-effect scanning electron microscope analysis showed that α-Ag2WO4 nanorods surfaces contain silver nanoparticles, confirmed by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

17. DECREASE IN OFF-PEAK ELECTRICAL ENERGY DEMAND BY AGROINDUSTRIES DUE TO PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR GENERATION
ABSTRACT The largest energy losses and voltage variations from electricity suppliers occur at times of peak demand. Daytime peaks are mainly influenced by large industrial and commercial consumers. The installation of photovoltaic systems without energy storage to supply part of the demand can contribute to stabilize the voltage and reduce losses. These and

18. Evaluation of the Lipid Quality of Lyophilized Pasteurized Human Milk for Six Months by GC-FID and ESI-MS
Human milk (HM) lipids provide about 50% energy and facilitate the transport and absorption of fat-soluble vitamins for infants, but their composition should be studied when the milk is processed. This study evaluated the lipid quality of lyophilized and vacuum-packed colostrum (C), transitional (T), and mature (M) HM for a period of 1, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150,

19. ASSESSMENT OF POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE SYNTHESIS IN SUBMERGED CULTIVATION OF Cupriavidus necator AND Burkholderia cepacia STRAINS USING SOYBEAN AS SUBSTRATE
ABSTRACT Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are biocompatible and biodegradable polyesters produced by prokaryotic microbes for energy storage and carbon reserve. These polymers are an option to diminish the massive impact caused by inadequate disposal of synthetic plastics. In this study, evaluation and characterization of PHA produced by Cupriavidus necator (IPT

20. Processing of nanomaterials in Layer-by-Layer films: Potential applications in (bio)sensing and energy storage
Abstract: The study and preparation of new nanostructures involving the integration of distinct nanomaterials have been important for the development of new electrochemical devices for (bio)sensing and energy storage. Such devices envisage miniaturized or flexible electronic equipment for emerging technologies, including adaptive displays, artificial skin an

21. Consanguinity and Geographic Origin of Patients With Autosomal Recessive Metabolic Disorders Evaluated in a Reference Service in Campinas, Brazil
Abstract In this 25-year retrospective study, we analyzed data from 200 medical records concerning diagnosis, consanguinity, and geographic origin from probands with autosomal recessive inborn errors of metabolism in a reference service based in Campinas, Brazil. Consanguinity was confirmed by 56 (28%) couples, with similar values among groups of intermediar

22. Dietary Management of the Ketogenic Glycogen Storage Diseases
Abstract The glycogen storage diseases (GSDs) comprise a group of rare inherited disorders of glycogen metabolism. The hepatic glycogenolytic forms of these disorders are typically associated with hypoglycemia and hepatomegaly. For GSD I, secondary metabolic disturbances include fasting hyperlactatemia, hyperuricemia, and hyperlipidemia. Glycogen storage dis

23. Structured Dietary Management Dramatically Improves Marked Transaminitis, Metabolic and Clinical Profiles in Glycogen Storage Disease Type IXa
Abstract Glycogen storage disease type IXa (GSD IXa) presents in childhood with hepatomegaly, poor growth, and ketotic hypoglycemia. Clinical course is usually mild, often not requiring treatment with attenuation of symptoms with increasing age. The phenotypic spectrum has recently expanded to include more severe involvement with hepatic fibrosis or cirrhosi

24. Mechanisms by Which Metabolic Reprogramming in GSD1 Liver Generates a Favorable Tumorigenic Environment
Abstract Glycogen storage disease type 1 (GSD1) is an inherited disorder caused by impaired glucose 6-phosphatase activity. This impairment translates into the inhibition of endogenous glucose production and the subsequent accumulation of cellular glucose 6-phosphate. Excess glucose 6-phosphate enhances glycolysis, increases the production of fatty acids, ur
