1. Clinical, laboratorial diagnosis and prophylaxis of measles in Brazil

2. Severe Outbreak of Avian Encephalomyelitis in Laying Hens in Northeastern Brazil
ABSTRACT This paper describes the epidemiological, clinical and pathological aspects of an avian encephalomyelitis (AE) outbreak in commercial laying hens in Northeastern Brazil. The disease affected 23,409 layers (from day one until 100 weeks) leading to mortality of 16.5% (5,049/30,600) of the flock. Twenty laying hens were clinically examined, and blood s

3. Importance of cerebrospinal fluid investigation during dengue infection in Brazilian Amazonia Region
BACKGROUND Amazon, the largest tropical forest of the world, has suffered from dengue outbreaks since 1998. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients, from Amazonas state, suspected of central nervous system (CNS) viral infection was studied using molecular and immunological methods. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the importance of CSF investigation in patients with acut

4. Potential role of dengue virus, chikungunya virus and Zika virus in neurological diseases
This study showed that laboratory markers of recent infection by dengue, Zika or chikungunya arboviruses were detected in the biological samples of approximately one-third of patients with encephalitis, myelitis, encephalomyelitis or Guillain-Barré syndrome, in a surveillance programme in Piauí state, Brazil, between 2015-2016. Fever and myalgia had been a

5. Neurologic manifestations in emerging arboviral diseases in Rio de Janeiro City, Brazil, 2015-2016
Abstract INTRODUCTION Dengue has affected Rio de Janeiro City since the 1980s. The sequential Zika and chikungunya virus introductions during 2015 aggravated the health scenario, with 97,241 cases of arboviral diseases reported in 2015-2016, some with neurological disorders. METHODS Arbovirus-related neurologic cases were descriptively analyzed, includin

6. NEW OCCURANCE OF AVIAN ENCEPHALOMYELITIS IN BROILER - IS THIS AN EMERGING DISEASE?
ABSTRACTAvian encephalomyelitis is caused by an Hepatovirus and primarily affects chickens. Chickens of all ages are susceptible to the virus, but the nervous symptoms are manifested only in young chicks, between one to five weeks of age. During the last thirty years, avian encephalomyelitis appeared to be well controlled by breeder vaccination. However, the

7. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis following inactivated influenza vaccination in the Brazilian Amazon: a case report
AbstractHere, we describe a case of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) that occurred during a plausible risk interval following inactivated influenza vaccination in a previously healthy 27-year-old man from Manaus, Brazil. He was treated with intravenous methylprednisolone and immunoglobulin. One-month follow-up revealed resolution of the brain lesi

8. Participação das células dendríticas plasmocitóides na esclerose múltipla e na encefalomielite autoimune experimental = : Role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in multiple sclerosis and in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis / Role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in multiple sclerosis and in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Nossos resultados demons

9. Efeito da eletroacupuntura na qualidade de vida de pacientes com esclerose múltipla forma recorrente-remitente / Impact of electroacupuncture on quality of life for patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis

10. Paralytic rabies in swine
Rabies transmitted by vampire bats was diagnosed in pigs with paralysis of the pelvic limbs. Diffuse nonsuppurative encephalomyelitis, affecting mainly the spinal cord, was observed histologically. Despite the various diagnosis of rabies in pigs this is the first report of clinical signs and pathology of rabies transmitted by vampire bats.

11. Decreased production of TNF-alpha by lymph node cells indicates experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis remission in Lewis rats
Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is mediated by CD4+ Th1 cells that mainly secrete IFN-γ and TNF-α, important cytokines in the pathophysiology of the disease. Spontaneous remission is, in part, attributed to the down regulation of IFN-γ and TNF-α by TGF-β. In the current paper, we compared weight, histopathology and immunological paramete

12. Feeding different levels of vitamin E and selenium has no effect on serum immunoglobulin Y (IgY) production by layers vaccinated against Escherichia coli and avian encephalomyelitis virus / Alimentação com diferentes níveis de vitamina E e selênio não influencia a produção de imunoglobulina Y (IgY) no soro de poedeiras leves vacinadas contra Escherichia coli e encefalomielite aviária
