1. Evaluation of soybean breeding lineages to new sources of root-knot nematode resistance

2. Artificial neural networks classify cotton genotypes for fiber length
Abstract Fiber length is the main trait that needs to be improved in cotton. However, the presence of genotypes x environments interaction for this trait can hinder the recommendation of genotypes with greater length fibers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adaptability and stability of the fibers length of cotton genotypes for recommendation to the

3. Selection of cotton genotypes for greater length of fibers
Abstract In cotton breeding programs, it is necessary to identify genotypes with predictable behavior on the length of fibers, and which are responsive to environmental variations, in specific or broad conditions. The aim of this study was to employ the methodology of mixed models for simultaneous selection of cotton genotypes with greater length of fibers,

4. First record and characteristics of damage caused by the spider mite Tetranychus neocaledonicus André on peanuts in the State of Paraíba, Brazil
ABSTRACT The red spider mite Tetranychus neocaledonicus André (Acari: Tetranychidae) is commonly found on cotton and castor bean in Brazil, especially in the northeast, but to date it had not been found damaging cultivated peanut. The objective of this research was to record the occurrence of this mite on peanut plants and describe its damage on this Fabace

The objectives of this research were: to evaluate the performance of doublehaploid cotton genotypes (HD) in relation to their parental genotypes in three contrasting environments of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and to determine the possible genotype by environment interactions and stability and adaptability parameters. In the state of Minas Gerais, Bra

Selection indices are linear combinations of phenotypic values, which combine in one unique value the positive and negative attributes of each genotype for the characters evaluated. Because these indices need estimates of genetic and phenotypic variances and covariances, their use is best suited in recurrent selection programs. However, other types of non-li

The objetive of this work was to investigate ecological aspects and comparative biology of Brcron vulgaris Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), an ectoparasite of both Anthonomus grandis BOHEMAN, 1843 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), the boll wevil and Pectinophora gossypiella SAUNDERS, 1843 (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), the pink bollwonn, which are considered as ke

10. Method for Sampling Meat Surfaces
A new method for sampling meat surfaces was developed. Bacterial counts of beef carcasses by the cotton swab technique and by the new method showed that the latter gave higher counts. These counts were closely correlated with data obtained by using the swab method. Advantages of the new method are its simplicity, rapidity, and adaptability to routine use on
