1. CADAVER PRESERVATION FOR SURGICAL SKILL TRAINING: COMPARISON OF TWO EMBALMING FORMULATIONS

2. INFLUENCE OF THE APPLIED ORGANIC LOAD (OLR) ON TEXTILE WASTEWATER TREATMENT USING SUBMERGED ANAEROBIC MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS (SAMBR) IN THE PRESENCE OF REDOX MEDIATOR AND POWDERED ACTIVATED CARBON (PAC)
Abstract This paper evaluated the treatment of textile wastewater in submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactors (SAMBR) operated on a bench scale. Particularly, the influence of operational conditions, such as the applied organic rate (OLR) and the dilution factor (for toxicity attenuation) of the textile wastewater, was evaluated on color and organic matter r

3. CaracterizaÃÃo FÃsica, QuÃmica e BiolÃgica da Ãgua na Sub-Bacia B1, do Rio CocÃ, Fortaleza-CE, com Ãnfase nos Aspectos da PoluiÃÃo ao Longo de um Ciclo ClimÃtico / Characterization Physical, Chemical and Biological Water in Sub-Basin B1, Rio Coco, Fortaleza-CE, with Emphasis on Aspects of Pollution Along a Climate Cycle
This study aimed to evaluate the physical, chemical, biological, and the occurrence of both the acute toxicity and the diversity and quantity of phytoplankton biomass, along a climatic cycle, on sub-basin B1, a member of the Cocà River basin, Fortaleza - CE. The sampling occurred monthly on fourteen collecting points in the period of September 2010 to April

4. Displasias foliculares ligadas à cor da pelagem em cães: displasia folicular dos pêlos pretos e alopecia por diluição da cor. / Colors-linked follicular dysplasias in dogs: black hair follicular dysplasia and color dilution alopecia

5. Fungi biodegradation of vinasse from industrial sugarcane processing / Biodegradação de vinhaça proveniente do processo industrial de cana-de-açúcar por fungos
Vinasse is a residue resulting from the production of alcohol after pulp fermentation and distillation of the wine, ensuing from 10 to 15 liters for each liter of ethanol produced. This high colored effluent is a by-product rich in nutrients, mainly organic matter, having a high pollutant potential when disposed in the environment. Lignolytic fungi can be ut

6. Geoquímica das águas da bacia hidrográfica do Rio Descoberto, Brasília/DF - Brasil
The objective of this paper is to investigate the physical and chemical quality of the water of the Descoberto River during the dry and rainy seasons by measuring pH, temperature, electric conductivity, total dissolved solids, turbidity, color, alkalinity and NO3-, SO4(2-), PO4(3-), NH4+, Cl- and HCO3-, and the elements Sr, Mo, Cd, Y, Ti, Ca, V, Mg, Fe, Si,

7. Microdilution Technique for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Haemophilus influenzae
A microdilution method incorporating the use of color-defined growth end points was compared with a conventional broth tube dilution procedure for susceptibility testing of Haemophilus influenzae with ampicillin and chloramphenicol. The microdilution method allowed rapid performance of dilution susceptibility tests with easily defined end points.

8. dsu functions in a MYO5A-independent pathway to suppress the coat color of dilute mice
MYO5A is a major actin-based vesicle transport motor that binds to one of its cargos, the melanosome, by means of a RAB27A/MLPH receptor. When one of the members of this receptor–motor complex is mutated, the melanosomes clump in the perinuclear region of the melanocyte and are transferred unevenly to the developing hair, leading to a dilution of coat colo

9. Chemically Defined Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test Medium for Pseudomonas aeruginosa
A chemically defined growth medium containing physiological concentrations of magnesium and calcium ions was utilized in a microdilution procedure for antimicrobial drug susceptibility testing of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Determinations of growth end points were simplified by use of sodium citrate as a sole carbon source and bromothymol blue as a pH indicator.

10. Evaluation of Alamar colorimetric MIC method for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of gram-negative bacteria.
The Alamar (Alamar Biosciences, Inc., Sacramento, Calif.) colorimetric antimicrobial susceptibility testing method is a new approach to the determination of broth microdilution MICs. The method uses a color indicator to detect growth of microorganisms within the wells of a microdilution tray. The color changes can be read visually or with a fluorometer. The

11. Comparison of methods for in vitro testing of susceptibility of porcine Mycoplasma species to antimicrobial agents.
The MICs of 18 antimicrobial agents used against strains of three porcine Mycoplasma species were determined by a serial broth dilution method. Twenty field strains of M. hyorhinis, ten field strains of M. hyopneumoniae, six field strains of M. flocculare, and the type strains of these species were tested. Twelve field strains and the type strain of M. hyorh

12. Simplified Medium for Ampicillin Susceptibility Testing of Haemophilus influenzae
Recent reports of bona fide ampicillin resistance among strains of Haemophilus influenzae have emphasized the need for improved methods of susceptibility testing of clinical isolates. A simplified medium composed of only Mueller-Hinton medium plus supplement C (yeast autolysate and hematin) was used successfully for ampicillin susceptibility testing of 20 re
