1. Breeze Potential Along the Brazilian Northern and Northeastern Coast
ABSTRACT The breeze potential along the Brazilian northern and northeastern coast was studied using wind data from the Climate Forecast System Reanalysis for the period between 1980 and 2010. March and September were considered, which are representative of the rainy and dry (or less rainy) periods, respectively. The Brazilian northern and northeastern coast

2. Evolução morfodinâmica e análise da estabilidade do canal do rio Itaguaré em Bertioga - SP / Morphodynamic evolution and stability analysis of Itaguaré inlet in Bertioga - SP

The investigation of morphological change in lagoonal inlets and shorelines can be instrumental to describe the influence of short term coastal processes. The Lagoa do Peixe (LP) is set within the Parque Nacional da Lagoa do Peixe (PNLP), 344 km², located on the mid-section of the Rio Grande do Sul coastal plain. The objective of this work was to describe t

4. A influência da inflexão costeira na variabilidade da Linha de Praia em Mostardas-RS
Mostardas beach, with an approximate extension of 36 km, is located along the intermediate section of Rio Grande do Sul state’s coastline; its north and south limits are São Simão beach and Mostardas lighthouse, respectively. At the northern portion of the beach, an anomalous depositional behavior is found, relative to most beaches along the state coast.

5. "Morfologia e sedimentologia ao longo do sistema praia-duna frontal de Ilha Comprida, SP" / "Morphology and sedimentology along the beach-foredune system of Ilha Comprida, SP".
Ilha Comprida is a Holocene sandy barrier-island located on the south coast of São Paulo State, 63 km long and 2 to 5 km wide. Its transverse boundaries are Cananéia and Icapara inlets, at the SW and NE, respectively. The beach-foredune system of Ilha Comprida have experienced intense morphological variation in time, as showed by the successive truncations

6. Population genetic structure of Brazilian shrimp species (Farfantepenaeus sp., F. brasiliensis, F. paulensis and Litopenaeus schmitti: Decapoda: Penaeidae)
Penaeid shrimps are important resources for worldwide fisheries and aquaculture. In the Southwest Atlantic, Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis, F. paulensis, F. subtilis, Farfantepenaeus sp. and Litopenaeus schmitti are among the most important commercially exploited species. Despite their high commercial value, there is little information available on the differe

7. Marcadores moleculares na análise de espécies e composição populacional de peixes marinhos de recifes de corais da família Pomacanthidae (Perciformes).
The Brazilian coast extends over nearly 8,000km. Along the coastline, several marine ecosystems can be found and determine a rich ichthyofauna, regarding both diversity and number of species. The reef sites are characterized as the main reason for such abundance. As a paradox, genetic studies aiming to characterize the several species and populations from th

8. Influência de sistemas de vento no deslocamento de água frias na Plataforma Continental Brasileira, utilizando dados AVHRR/NOAA / Influence of Systems of Wind in the Displacement of Cold Waters in the Brazilian Continental Platform, Using AVHRR/NOAA data
An important oceanographic phenomenon observed in the SE/S Brazilian and Uruguayan coasts is the northward intrusion of a surface cold water tongue during the autumn and winter seasons. Past studies indicate that these intrusions have their origin as a combination of La Plata river outflow and the inshore and northward penetration of Malvinas water over the
