1. The influence of compositional variability of dimension stone residues on the properties of rustic porous ceramic tiles
Abstract This study analyzed how the compositional variability of dimension stone residues influences the characteristics of rustic porous ceramic tiles. The specimens were prepared by adding 20 wt% of dimension stone residue to the clay and sintered at 1000 °C for 1 h. The testing assays performed were physical properties and structural analysis through sc

2. Fire exposure behavior of epoxy reinforced with jute fiber applied to ceramic tiles for a ventilated facade system
Civil construction seeks to increase the useful life of the facades of buildings. Installing a ventilated facade is one way to accomplish this due to aesthetic and technical advantages. Ceramic tiles are the main products used as the covering. To the back face of a tile, a bidirectional screen of glass fiber is adhered using epoxy resin. This set forms a com

3. Thermal behavior (TG-DTA-TMA), sintering and properties of a kaolinitic clay from Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

4. Objective criterion for evaluation of the quality decoration in ceramic floor tile production prior to the sintering process
Abstract In the ceramic tile decoration process, the set of variables that can cause hue variation is quite wide and independent of the methodology used in the production. The understanding of the effects of these variables over the final expected result is of great importance to the producers, especially if it could be done before the ceramic tile’s sinte

5. Use of Experimental Design to Evaluate the Effect of the Incorporation of Quartzite Residues in Ceramic Mass for Porcelain Tile Production
The potential of using quartzite residues in the composition of an industrial ceramic mass for porcelain tile production was investigated through experimental design. Chemical, physical and microstructural analyses were accomplished to understand how the incorporation of quartzite residues affects the material, before and after sintering. Central composite d

6. THERMAL EFFICIENCY OF DIFFERENT COVERAGE MATERIALS IN REDUCED MODELS OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY FACILITIES: A CASE STUDY
ABSTRACT This study aimed to assess different combinations of coverage materials in reduced models of animal husbandry facilities based on thermal comfort indices. It was conducted in an experimental area of the Research Center in Ambience located in São Paulo State, Brazil (22°42′30″ S and 47°38′00″ W). The performance of ceramic and fiber-cement

7. Analysis of Dimension Stone Waste Addition to the Clayey Mass Used in Roof Tile Production
Addition of dimension stone waste to clayey mass is an alternative to make the dimension stone sector more environmentally sustainable and to reduce the consumption of clayey raw material. Our aim is to study the technical feasibility of dimension stone waste addition to the clayey mass used in roof tile production. Samples of waste and clay were tested for

8. The Bond Strength Behavior of Polymer-modified Mortars During a Wetting and Drying Process
Polymer-modified mortars are highly popular for setting exterior tile systems and low-porosity ceramic tiles because they possess greater flexibility and higher bond strengths than conventional mortars which increases cladding serviceability. However, the long-term performance of this application is not completely understood and many pathologies has been rep

9. Giant Bamboo Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composite in Multilayered Ballistic Armor
The ballistic performance of a multilayered armor with a front ceramic tile backed by a plate of giant bamboo fiber reinforced epoxy composite was assessed. The ceramic layer spalls the projectile, while the bamboo composite dissipates the remaining energy. Ballistic tests were performed with high velocity ammunition and the projectile penetration was evalua

10. MODELING AND SIMULATION OF THE EFFECT OF THE FIRING CURVE ON THE LINEAR SHRINKAGE OF CERAMIC MATERIALS: LABORATORY SCALE AND INDUSTRIAL SCALE
AbstractSingle-cycle firing is currently the most widespread method used for the production of ceramic tile. The productivity is directly related to the performance of the constituent materials of the ceramic piece during thermal cycling. Numerical tools which allow the prediction of the material behavior may be of great help in the optimization of this stag

11. Avaliação de concreto auto-adensável com agregado reciclado de telha cerâmica / Evaluation of self-compacting concrete produced with the recycled aggregate tile
The increasing demand for raw materials in construction, especially those drawn from nature, is of great concern due to harmful impacts it produces. The use of recycled aggregates can be a sustainable and contribute to the preservation of natural resources, contributing to the sustainable development of the construction industry. The residue from the ceramic

12. Influência da adição de um fundente sintético no mecanismo de coloração final de revestimentos cerâmicos / The influence of the addition of a synthetic flow in the final color mechanism of ceramic tiles
The presence of iron oxide in ceramic tile mass contributes to the reddish color firing of the products leading to a lower aggregate value, not to be regarded as a "noble" ceramic. However, the use of raw materials with low levels of iron oxides (Fe2O3) is economically unfeasible in Brazil, since most of the deposits have iron compounds as mineral component.
