25. Combined high grade sarcoma and serous ovarian neoplasm.
A case of an ovarian serous epithelial neoplasm of borderline type admixed with sarcomatous elements is reported. This combination seems to be extremely rare with only four cases previously reported. It may represent a type of collision tumour or the development of a sarcoma in a growth with borderline differentiation.

26. Borderline malignant change in recurrent müllerian papilloma of the vagina.
Malignant change occurred in a benign, recurrent vaginal müllerian polyp. The patient, a 49 year old woman with cerebral palsy, presented with a polypoid mass in the vagina. At four years of age she had presented with a haemorrhagic polyp, and over the following years she had recurrent irregular bleeding and regrowth of the polypoidal mass, requiring a tota

27. Immunosuppressive treatment for myocarditis and borderline myocarditis in children with ventricular ectopic rhythm.
OBJECTIVES--To ascertain the responsiveness to immunosuppressive treatment of myocarditis and borderline myocarditis in children with ventricular ectopic rhythm (that is, all ventricular arrhythmia except benign premature ventricular contractions). To determine the impact of the diagnostic information provided by an endomyocardial biopsy specimen in these pa

29. Diagnostic value of the serum folate assay
The diagnostic value of the serum folate assay has been assessed in 90 patients, each of whom had a macrocytic anaemia and a low serum vitamin B12 level. Twenty-nine (32%) patients were found to have anaemia due primarily to folate deficiency. The cause of the low serum vitamin B12 levels is uncertain in the 22 (25%) patients with normal or borderline vitami

30. Professional driving, smoking, and lung cancer: a case referent study.
In a case referent study of about 600 cases of male lung cancer in northern Sweden the risk in professional drivers was specifically studied. On average, professional drivers were heavier smokers and this was the chief ca

31. Detection of endotoxin in antibiotic solutions with Limulus amoebocyte lysate.
Twenty-eight antibiotics were tested with the Limulus amoebocyte lysate assay to determine their non-inhibitory concentrations (NICs). The Limulus amoebocyte lysate assay was found to be a valid test for most of the antibiotics tested; the NICs were found to be greater than the minimum valid test concentrations. Borderline results were obtained with cefamand

Patients were divided into three subgroups, lepromatous (174), tuberculoid (55), and borderline (13). A total of 131 patients were tested on admission; the remaining 111 had been institutionalized for a period of 3 months or more whe

34. Methylation of the nucleobases in RNA oligonucleotides mediates duplex–hairpin conversion
We have systematically investigated the duplex to hairpin conversion of oligoribonucleotides under the aspect of nucleobase methylation. The first part of our study refers to the self-complementary sequence rCGCGAAUUCGCGA, which forms a stable Watson–Crick base paired duplex under various buffer conditions. It is shown that this sequence is forced to adopt

36. Survey of methicillin-resistant clinical strains of coagulase-negative staphylococci for mecA gene distribution.
A total number of 125 methicillin-resistant (MIC, greater than or equal to 16) coagulase-negative Staphylococcus strains isolated in Japan were surveyed for the distribution of the mecA gene, the structural gene for penicillin-binding protein 2', which is the causative genetic element for the intrinsic resistance of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureu
