6. Efeito da ação tópica do colírio de fenilefrina a 10% no posicionamento palpebral de indivíduos normais e portadores de blefaroptose adquirida involucional / Effect of 10% phenylephrine eye drops action in the eyelid position in healthy subjects and in patients with acquired involutional blepharoptosis
INTRODUCTION: There are few studies in the literature on the effect of drugs on the vertical positioning of the eyelids. This issue is important in the analysis of the eyelid dynamics mainly in disorders such as blepharoptosis. The aim of this study is to determine the action of a single drop of 10% phenylephrine on the upper and lower eyelids of healthy sub

7. Evaluation of the associated factors for the upper eyelid levator tendon disinsertion on blepharoplasty and ptosis correction / Avaliação de fatores associados à desinserção do tendão do músculo levantador da pálpebra superior na cirurgia de blefaroplastia e ptose palpebral
Purpose: To evaluate on patients who underwent to ptosis and dermatochalasis correction: a) the association of pre-operatory propedeutic measures (upper eyelid levator muscle function (UELMF), margin reflex distance (MRD1), and eyelid crease height (ECH)) on the amount of upper eyelid levator muscle (UELM) disinsertion. b) The association of gender, age, pre

10. The Mersilene mesh sling--a new concept in ptosis surgery.
The use of a Mersilene mesh sling in brow suspension ptosis surgery is presented. Seventeen cases of severe blepharoptosis have been treated by means of this sling with favourable results. Materials used in brow suspension procedures are categorised and discussed, and it is concluded that the Mersilene sling is an alternative to those currently available for

11. Management of ipsilateral ptosis with hypotropia.
Thirty-one patients presented for surgical correction of unilateral hypotropia of the globe and blepharoptosis. The hypotropia and pseudoptosis were corrected by Knapp procedures. The Bell's phenomenon was thereby improved, allowing safe correction of the true ptosis, generally by an anterior levator resection whose magnitude depended on measured levator fun

12. Elevating the hypotropic globe.
Twelve consecutive cases are reviewed of unilateral hypotropia due to various causes. In most of them the presenting complaint was of ipsilateral blepharoptosis.
