RESUMO
This work presents biographical data of Ziná Coelho Júnior (1907-1987) followed by the presentation of discussions about her published piano pieces. The main purpose of this research is to provide a better knowledge of Ziná Coelho Júniors work, as well as of her artistic and personal life. Ziná Coelho Júnior played a significant role in the musical scene of Minas Gerais between 1930 and 1980 as a performer, composer and teacher, and her published didactic piano pieces achieved expressive sale rates. Besides being largely used by private teachers, these works also appeared in music guides, piano competitions and programs for young piano students in several music schools. Through the exanimation of these works we hope to make possible a better understanding, even if partial, of the piano teaching at Minas Gerais at the time.
