RESUMO

In several cases, small rural communities situated in the vicinity of high vohage transmission lines do not benefit ftom using electrical energy, in that the electrification of such communitiesby means of conventional substations is not economicallyviable. Aiming to overcome such situations, this work investigates the main altemative techniques, which at the present, are viable for this purpose. In this way, proposals for the application as well as suggestions for the dimensioning of three altemative systems which showed to be more adequate to the Brazilian necessities are presented. They are: shield wires energised with medium voltages, isolated shield wires as medium vohage supplies, and capacitive voltage dividers. By means of digital simulation, studies of steady state and transient performance are carried out, focusing on the phenomenon of ferroresonance in shield wires energised with medium voltages, and on the opening ofloads in the capacitive coupled systems. It is also presented a comparative analysis of these three altemative techniques as well as their financial evaluation
