RESUMO

The scope of this work is to compute the distinct and real eigenvalues of a companion real matrix. First the definitions and notations used in the work are given. In the 1st chapter a new method that uses symmetrizers is suggested. In the 2nd chapter the QR method with shift in the original matrix is described. Finally in the 3rd chapter the comparison between the two methods is done and the result of computational tests are presented, too. The appendix contains the listing of the programs of the algorithms
