RESUMO

Purpose: to create a new method capable of stablishing a precise correlation between attenuation values and stone features as its composition, morphology, density and microhardness. Material and method: Stones were scanned at 120 kV, 200 mA and 300 mAs. Section thickness was 1 mm. The images were assessed using bone window (width of 1500 and level of 320). Attenuation measurements were made using a circular region of interest with a 5,4 mm2 area within the dense regions of the stone. These regions were precisely located on the stone sample. Analysis of morphology, microhardness, density and composition were performed. Results: it proved possible to establish a precise correlation between attenuation values and other features of the stone such as its morphology, microhardness, density and composition. Conclusion: we create a new method capable of stablishing a precise correlation between attenuation values and stone features as its morphology, microhardness, density and composition
