RESUMO

This study presents the results of a descritive research with quantitative methods. The study seek to identify the latents dimensions of organizational commitment, and instructive effort, as well to find relations between the two indicators groups. The research is composed of 562 quetionnaires, formed by 274 teacher from private graduate schools and 288 teacher from public graduate schools. The research was undertake in the five Brazilian regions using the World Wide Web as a tool to collect data, and utilizing tow different questionnaires. The first model was utilized by Medeiros et al. (2003) and has 28 indicators of organizational commitment, the second was adapted from the model of Lopes et al. (2001), which has 17 indicators of instructive effort. For the data analysis, it was utilized fatorial analysis techniques and structural equations modeling. Using fatorial analysis, it was found seven dimensions of organizational commitment and five dimensions of instructive effort. After utilizing structural equations modeling, it was possible to observ that the dimension of organizational commitment (performance obligation) influences the five dimensions of instructive effort (technician, daddy, who makes the perfect things, demanding and encouraged) at the data banks from private e public graduate schools and public graduate schools. At the data bank of private graduate schools the dimensions of organizational commitment (performance obligation) relate positive form which the five dimensions of instructive effort and other dimensions of organizational commitment (affiliation) relate positive form which two dimensions instructive effort (demanding and encouraged)
