RESUMO

The Boundary Element Method was used to study plates with small strain hypotheses under classical theory. The geometrical non-linearity effect was considered to obtain in plane critical loads for homogeneous and isotropic plates. On the other hand, the natural frequencies of the plates were computed using the free vibration theory. Several plates were analyzed with different boundary conditions. The inverse iteration with the Rayleigh quotient was employed to obtain the smaller eigenvalues with their corresponding eigenvectors. Isoparametric linear elements were used on the boundary and in the domain. The domain discretization was required to include the geometrical non-linear effect in static problems or the inertia effect in dynamic problems. The domain integral was converted to an equivalent boundary integral at each cell to accelerate the integration process
