RESUMO
This work is on the Apurinã indians, from the middle Purus river, Pauini city, state of Amazonas, Brazil. It deals, through oral narratives, with Apurinã peoples past, memory and history. It presents a general picture of the Apurinã Indians, with information based on documentation and ethnographic observations; a reflection on how to treat local histories and narratives; the narratives themselves, along with short notes and comments.
