Transmissão e prioridades de valores entre estudantes e professores de escolas públicas do Paranoá (DF)

RESUMO
The study of values has attracted the interest of researchers from different areas of knowledge. However, in Brazil, the empirical studies of values are still rare, especially in the context of formal education. Considering that the values are central in the culture and in the process of training young, one of the pillars of education, and that the teacher is the main transmitter of values in this context, it is important to know the values of these subjects and check whether they are consistent or they potercially conflictive. This study investigated the values of students and teachers and the values transmitted in the classroom in the perception of both groups. Based on the theoretical model of Schwartz, it was investigated the pattern of compatibilities and conflicts between the values of those subjects. 68 teachers participated in the survey (47 women and 21 men) and 1302 students (741 women and 560 men, mean age = 14.34, SD = 1.19) of the 7th and 8th grades of public schools of the Federal District. The multidimensional scaling (EMD) revealed structures similar to the model of Schwartz, indicating the four dimensions of higher order (self transcendence, self promotion, openness to change and conservation) teachers and students samples. The results showed that the structures of the values of students and teachers are consistent and that both have the same values priorities. Categorical and descriptive analysis showed that values of respect, solidarity, responsibility, study, love, honesty are emphasized by teachers in their classrooms while the students perceived that their teachers transmit values of studying to be someone in life, respect, be responsible, education, belief in life, friendship, be honest, believe in yourself. These results suggest that teachers and students have compatible life goals, which may promote the relations between them and contribute to school performance. The values prioritized by the sample are congruent with the National Curricular Parameters, indicating that teachers are fulfilling their role as educator and that students are aware of these values and their importance to their lives.
