RESUMO
This work shows a study of the evolution of Circus Theater in Brazil, considering the elements that define and interfere in its physical and aesthetical structure, its internal and external relations during the period from 1870 and 1970 decades. From this survey and its critical appreciation, we proposed the hypothesis of the function of dramathurgy, here considered in its literally sense, as well as in its development into the active role of the director in rehearsal, as the key element in defining Circus Theater in its various phases
