RESUMO
Gustavo Barroso (1888-1959) was responsable for the systematization of a knowledge concerning museums. That knowledge came from a pratice that can be perceveid, above all, through the creation of Museu Histórico Nacional (1922), Curso de Museus (1932) and Inspetoria de Monumentos Nacionais (1934). This work takes in account specific aspects of the Barroso´s thoughts concerning museums how like all coherent and expressive for identify the setting of your intellectual project and to understand how the notions of tradition, museum and patrimony contributed to materialize a project of construction of the national memory.
