RESUMO

This dissertation sought to investigate the main technologies of transmission employed by the ?school? of communication Casa Grande ? Memorial do Homem Kariri Foundation, in the education of children and youth in Nova Olinda, state of Ceará. Inspired in the principles of qualitative research and articulated to ethical and political reflections on the ?positioning of the researcher?, the research developed its methodology departing from the ?immersion? in the empirical field, utilizing mainly the participant observation and the field diary as methodological tools. The research narrative was developed in such a way that it could reveal the trajectory of the researcher, his dilemmas in the characterization of the object, the widening of the objectives, and the reorientation of the research trajectory. The present work underlined the importance of thematic and methodological pertinence in the constitution of a socioeducative project: the localization of the Casa Grande Foundation in an environmental protected area (APA), the Araripe Chapada (one of the most famous and important Brazilian paleontological sites); as well as the gradual and unpretentious way in which the project was implemented in Nova Olinda, through the utilization of the Kariri mythology as a link of meaning for the learning process. The research presented as an analytical framework two? world views? on culture, the ?contractualist? (which takes the ?coercion? as the basis for the associative pact) and the ?institutionalist? (which considers the ?convention? as the foundation of the institutions). Then, the research indicated, through the interpretive description of the instituting trajectory of the Casa Grande Foundation, and of its current moment, some of the causes of its success as a socioeducative dispositive, as well as the ambiguities of the institutionalization process. Associating such ?world views? to the concept of ?transmission?, it was delineated the characterization of Casa Grande as a ?collective organism? that utilizes a set of both material and immaterial strategies, including the use of information and communication technologies, to make the Kariri culture to maintain itself.
