RESUMO

The interest regarding the subject has evolved from the researchers experience in community-related jobs focused towards adolescents. This studys relevance is justified due to the contribution of knowledge to the scientific branches that run along with the adopted theoretical perspective added to the praxis of policies for social inclusion aimed to the youth who dwells in poverty. The objective was to verify the meanings and senses attributed by interviewed adolescents, regarding Capoeira as a sports activity related to social inclusion. Therefore, the social-historical Psychology theoretical assumptions, qualitative approach methodology and the building of signifying nuclei for the apprehension of the investigated sense-meanings constitution from testimonies were used. The yielded results revealed that the meanings of social inclusion are not quite clear to the adolescents. The senses attributed by them to the capoeira are more directed towards alternatives to their lifes conditions, for instance, the need to leave the streets, idleness, and family/ home problems
