RESUMO

Our main goal with this research was to investigate the psychosocial rehabilitation process considering the reference technicianÂs speech and practice of a service that can replace a psychiatric hospital, which is the case of a psicosocial attention center, at the Recife Metropolitan Area. Our theorical reference is Social-Historical Psychology which demands a deep understanding of the phenomenon, in our case the psychosocial rehabilitation process related to mental health, by the comprehension of its historical development. Therefore, we started with a historical review of the changes of madness care, since the creation of the first psychiatric hospitals, during the Renaissance, and the medical vision of mental disease, during the XVIII century, and the elaboration of psychiatric hospitals as the ideal places for curing it, until the firsts movements which denunciated the terrible conditions in such places and elaborated new proposals of care for mental health, such as the Italian Psychiatric Reform, led by Franco Basaglia, which was very important for Brazilian moviments to create new ways to deal with madness. In our country, the psychiatric reform started with claims of violence against inmates in psychiatric hospitals, during the late 1970âs, and resulted in the Law 10.216, on 2001, a.k.a. the âPsychiatric Reform Legislationâ, which also demands the creation of replacement services of psychiatric hospitals, among them, the psychosocial attention center. Those places promote the psychosocial rehabilitation of their users. Reviewd Literature shows that reference technicians are very important, that can be explained by the fact that groups of reference technicians would do the mediation between the users of the substitutive service, their symptons, their relations with their families and the society. There are many researches about psychosocial rehabilitation in the world, but there are few Brazilian works about this subject. In Pernambuco, there is only one Master Degree work about psychosocial rehabilitation. Considering all this, we decided to investigate how a group of reference technicians from a psychosocial attention center understands the process of psychosocial rehabilitation, considering their speech and pratices to promote it. In order to do so, we observed the routine of a type II psychosocial attention center, we had one focal group with six of the fourteen reference technicians from this institution, and we did interviews with two of the six members from the focal group. After many readings and re-readings of this material we were able to constitute three Meaning Cores. We can conclude that to the reference technicians from our research, the psychosocial rehabilitation is a process that depends on the society, in other words our vision concerning madness must change in order to stop the stigmatization, which is an obstacle on the psychosocial rehabilitation promotion. And despite the fact that those reference technicians donât have a program of continued professional formation, their speech and pratices do seem to be consonate, because they work as a group and promote the usersâs psychosocial rehabilitation through their families, possibilities of jobs, education and leisure that can be found at the psychosocial attention territor
