RESUMO

The reuse of domestic wastewater in agriculture appears as a good alternative of destination for the treated effluent, utilizing its physical-chemical characteristics for the agricultural production. In this work, the focus is the use of anaerobic effluent according to its profitable characteristics for the agriculture, with concentrations of nutrients and organic matter that usua11y don t attend the standards for discharge in rivers, consequently irrigation may be a solution. For the study of the viability of reusing effluents in irrigation there was investigated the application of three hydric lamina corresponding to the irrigation depth of 20cm, 40cm and 60cm, with the sanitary study carried out with samples taken from free draining collectors in depths of 25cm, 50em, and 75cm from the soil base to the sewer. The analysis of culture development has been done by the study of the agricultural productivity of the com. Results have been obtained and they indicate that: when the irrigation is done with a rigid control of the frequency of irrigation, the percolation of the liquids is minimized; nitrate percolation occurs more frequently after the decreasing of the water demand of the plant; soil is an adequate environment for the survival of coliforms; reduction of the ammonia nitrogen is about 99%, being 95% absorbed by the plant; phosphorus has a reduction of about 95% returning to is natural reservoir, the soil; agriculture productivity with "sewage scenery" is the same as the "water scenery" with the fertilized soil; adequate irrigation depth for the utilization of effluent in agriculture is the same used by agronomists. The conclusion is that reuse of anaerobic effluent is advisable if nitrate and coliforms are carefully controlled
