RESUMO

This research has as main objective to better understand the spread of photograph in Brazil in the period of the Second Empire. Especially, we will have our focus to the work systematic in the worshops and also to the changes brought after the spréad of the carte de visite photographs. Our argument is that the workshop is an important space for the society of this age, once the photographers became the mediators in the process of representation and self-representation of the population. We will analyze four professional who worked at this age and each one in their one way indicates different ways of the photographic labor.
