RESUMO

The aim of this study was to carry out a histologic investigation of apical region of dog s teeth after vital pulp extirpation and root canal instrumentation beyond the tooth apei:o The fi(lings were placed forced periapically with Sealapex, Endomethasone and Fill canal cements.Endomethasone and Fill canal root cements were manipulated as both, soft fluid past and as a more consistent formo The dogs were killed after 14 and 90 days and the jaws were sectioned and embedded in paraffin. Seven-micrometer serial sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and observed microscopic examination. The findings showed that: 1- independent of material studied, there was a direct relation between the amount of overextrusion and the extent oi inflammatory processes. 2- in the overextrusion with ZOE materiaIs, there was a direct relation between the consistence of the material and the intensity and extent of the inflammatory processo 3- intensity of inflammation decreased progressively with time, tissue repair occored with deposition of the fibrous connective tissue and calcified material. 4- the healing process of dog apical tissue in teeth filled with Endomethasone was more efficient, than other materiaIs, specially after 90 days
