RESUMO

In this study I analyze the styles of leadership practiced in Pernambucan enterprises based on the benchmarks of organizational literature. The theoretical foundation covers the theories considered essential for the understanding of leadership, such as: The Inatista Theories â trait approach, which remained in evidence until the end of the 40âs, The Behavioral Theories â style approach, since then until the end of the 60âs; The Contingency Theories â contingency approach, found between the end of the 60âs and the beginning of the 80âs and the Neocarasmatic Theories - new leadership approach, influenced from the start of the 80âs until today. I used a qualitative methodology of analysis of content, based on semi-structured interviews, conducted in six Pernambucan companies, medium and large. Each set of theories has been examined through eight categories: Power, Decision Making, Communication, Dynamics of Autonomy and Control, Hierarchy Process and Subordination. Formal and Informal participation of. Teams, Recognition and Assessment as part of the Learning Process. The results show that there is a different style of leadership, eclectic and hybrid impregnated by the centralization of power. Each company randomly practises various theories of leadership from the inatistas to the neocarasmatic, in the catagories studied. What I see is that companies reflect the ââpersonalityââ and ââstyleââ of the owner. Any style of leadership is established as, direction, thinking, vision and behavior of the principal leaders. Then, it is concluded that the model of Pernambucan leadership is a dialectical universe full of contradictions and extremely versatile in creating strategies to achieve results, which conforms to the culture of the company
