RESUMO

With the purpose of assessing the effect of doses and application times of mineral fertilizers on the production and quality of potato cultivars, this experiment was carried out at Fazenda Progresso II in the municipality of MucugÃ-BA and at the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia - UESB, in VitÃria da Conquista - BA. 3 doses of N and K were used (75% the recommended dose; recommended dose according to soil analysis; 125% the recommended dose) and 5 application times (100% upon planting; 1/3 upon planting and 2/3 upon tuberization; 50% upon planting and 50% upon tuberization; 1/3 upon planting, 1/3 upon tuberization and 1/3 25 days after tuberization; 1/4 upon planting, 1/4 upon tuberization, 1/4 25 days after tuberization and 1/4 50 days after tuberization) The experimental design was the factorial one (5 x 3), with plots arranged in randomized blocks with four repetitions. Tubercles from the Ãgata, Monalisa and Vivaldi cultivars, uniformly budded, were planted with spacing of 0,8 x 0,3m on prepared soil according to the one recommended for the culture. Tubercle productivity was assessed, as well as tubercle average weight, total number of tubercles, great tubercles productivity, great tubercles average weight, number of great tubercles, dry mass, tubercles classification, chlorophyll content, firmness, pH of tubercles, soluble solids, titulable acidity, reducing sugars and total sugars. The data were submitted to the variance analysis and Tukey test at 5% of probability. The split application of nitrogen and potassium doses did not influence in tubercles productivity and great tubercles productivity in the Ãgata and Monalisa cultivars. The application time and the doses of N and K did not promote significant responses in the number of tubercles, tubercles classification, dry mass, total titulable acidity, soluble solids and pH in the three cultivars. The chlorophyll tenor, measured by SPAD-502, can be used as a tool to indicate the most correct season for tubercule potato harvest.
