RESUMO

The deciduous teething begins its growth process between the 6th and the 8th weeks of intra-uterine life. Each tooth grows in different moments, however, the teeth formation process is almost the same. The alterations that happen on the teeth growth process are called dental anomalies. Among the alterations, can be identified the number alterations: hypodontia and hyperdontia, and the shape alterations: fusion and gemination. The lack of teeth from born or dental agenesia can be classified as hypodontia, oligodontia or anodontia. Anodontia is the complete lack of teeth; oligodontia is the lack of six or more teeth and hypodontia is used when there are less than six teeth but the third molar teeth. Hyperdontia is the growth of a higher number of teeth than normal. The teeth those exceed the normal number are called supernumerary. The fusion is characterized by the union of two single tooth buds that adhere to each other at the dentin and the gemination is an attempt of a single tooth bud to divide into two teeth. The objective of this work was to verify the prevalence of anomalies of dental development in deciduous dentition and your correlation with anomalies in permanent dentition. For this purpose, were examined 240 records on students preschool that were attended by the Escola do SESC Dourados/MS Educação Infantil from 2005 to 2006. The children with diagnoses hiperdontia, hipodontia and double teeth had been submitted the radiograph and photographs surveys. In this study, were detected nine cases of dental anomalies, 3.75% of the studied sample. From these cases, six were of shape anomalies and three cases were of number anomalies, 2.5% and 1.25% respectively. The radiograph analysis revealed that 75% of the cases with deciduous teeth anomalies had correlation with anomalies in the permanent dentition.
