RESUMO

The exercise test has been used to evaluate the behavior of blood pressure (BP) in the general population as well as in adolescents. Consensus of the normal values of variation of the BP during exercise in this particular sample of individuals does not exist. Cross-sectional study of 218 adolescents among 10 to 19 years (131 males) where are described peak heart rate (HR), duration of exercise, VO2 max and systolic and diastolic BP at rest, during stress and up to six minutes after exercise, during exercise test on treadmill using a ramp protocol. HR was similar in both sexes, with an average of 192 + 08 bpm. Duration of exercise and VO2 max were greated in males. In rest, the systolic BP had larger values in males and the diastolic BP did not show differences among sexes, however both increase with age. During exercise systolic BP increased, diastolic BP decrease and variation of systolic BP was larger in males, mainly over 14 years old. During exercise, a relation was found between the systolic BP with age, weight, height and BMI and between the diastolic BP just with age
