RESUMO

"For not to say that I didn t talk about the flowers: a study on relations and biodiversity in the semiarid of Pernambuco" approaches the importance of the work developed for the farmers women in the semiarid from their practices, experiences and acquirements in the handling and conservation of biodiversity. It presupposes the confirmation of the existence of inequalities of gender socially constructed that deny and give little value the reproductive and productive role of the woman, in special in the rural environment, added to the necessity of studies and researches that contributes for the conservation of biodiversity intending the confrontation of the ambient crisis. When challenge itself to enter into the limits of the interdisciplinarity, intercrossing these two thematics, the research presupposes the denaturalization of the sexual division of the work and of the links that exist between the women and the environment, having configured itself while social strategy in the search of construction of relations of gender more jousts. It adopts as reference for examination and analysis the area of the yard, or âhouse surroundingsâ, considered socially as part of the private, domestic space, and, therefore, as of responsibility and care of the women, and the set of activities developed for the women in the handling of these areas and its relation with the conservation of biodiversity. In its process of construction, the research adopts a methodological referential directed in the triangulation of methods, allowing the joint of multiple strategies, theoretical basis and techniques of collections of data, in a approach of quanti-qualitative matrix, intending to catch elements located in distinct dimensions, but that they are intercrossed in the analysis. Therein, it uses as instrumentals the technique of the participant examination, interviews and questionnaires, among others. From point of view of the results, the research ratifies the existence of unjust relations between men and women in the rural environment, from the work developed for both, from the valorization and recognition socially attributed of differentiated form. On the other hand, it evidences the importance of the area of the yards, while spaces extremely diversified in number and varieties of species of plants and with multiple uses. 289 ethnospecies had been registered in the 46 searched areas, having a average of 37 ethnospecies par yard, being that 35% of the yards presented more than 40 ethnospecies. About 41% of these plants had been classified by the families as of ornamental use, 22% as of nourishing use and 17% medicinal; others 11% had been associates to lumber use and 9% to other forms of use. Being areas produced and handled, usually, by the women, the yards also are configured while important spaces of exchange, construction and transmission of acquirements, acclimatization of species, stimulus to the local sociabilities from the relations with donations and divisions of seeds and scions, and a set of other contributions of the work developed for the women who direct or indirectly result in positive experiences in the handling and conservation of biodiversity
